Try out our new saver, based on the credits.
A lot of people asked for us to do a screensaver based on the title sequence - but we're a bit worried that it might be quite demanding on computers. Please let us know how it works:
Dr John Ryle (Time Lord)
Nice idea, but ridiculously resource intensive. Simplify the graphics - and it MUST have a spinning Tardis.
Brett
It's cool, though it would be extra cool if it were a little cleaner.
One point that someone needs to consider is to remember what screen savers are for!!!!
Your text accross the top never moves, so if you have a screen that actually NEEDS a screen saver, this screen saver will burn that text in! (Say a 42" Plasma TV?)
Just thought I would bring it up.
Andre Heinz (37) Sthlm
You get top marks for finally doing this- thank you...but.... it would not install on my MacBook Pro. If it did, I am sure however that I would concur with the other users' comments regarding sound and speed. Please keep on trying.
Alia torrie
i have osx 10.4 and for some reason the screensaver wont run, it downloads but when you try to access it you get this message "You cannot use the screen saver tunnel on this computer. Contact the developer of this software for a newer version." i'm sure when it works it wont be too demanding on my computer and i do see it looking rather good...hope you are able to sort it my dears...thanx for your time...take care...Alia E. Torrie x
David Goodman
i like this screen saver because it has lots of different colours on it and because it has lots of detail on
Tim Tranter
Great screensaver! Wish there were more of them. How about a screen saver based on what the Doctor is watching on his console screen when the Tardis is in flight? Rotating circles and such.
cynthia
Appreciate that this is just the vortex. Adding the TARDIS seems a popular idea but I would prefer without, as here. Loop should be longer and the end-of-loop to beginning-of-loop connection smoother. Sound, if added as some suggest, should also be optional. And yes, the text at the top undercuts the whole point of the screensaver. But, the core idea is "Fantastic!" How about offering several versions of the vortex from different eras of the programs history? Doing so would allow those of us with a long history with the show to do a bit of time traveling of our own.
nath
Time Tunnel screensaver is demanding cos it stops and moves
Jay Bidmead USA
Tried it but it was very slow, What is the chance on Tardis sound effects for windows. It would be neat to start up windows and instead of hearing the windows theme hear the tardis engines.
Time Tunnel screensaver (PC)
When i wiggle my mouse to get it back to my desktop, it wont go to it. the screensaver keeps on going
Dave
works fine
Jeremiah
Looks really cool, but it takes up too much virtal memory and jumps when playing, so I'm gonna have to delete it.
(PC)
brad
you could have added the tardis flying through, i expected a little better too.maybe the theme song could have been added?
Doc
How about one for us MacIntel users?
JSTH42
Tried it and it was OK, but what a lot of people would realy like is the Tom Baker Tunnel screen saver.
#1drwhofan=LOZ>D
I thin kthe theme tune should have been used and the tardis should have floated around the screen. It was a bit slow for my computer and sometimes if froze, i had to press ESC to quit the screensaver which was annoying because sometimes it would take me ages to get off it.
Ryan K (AUSSIE)
MY P4's CPU Usage went sky high as well as my RAM usage. It seems to jolt quite a bit but hey pretty good for a first go! Looking forward to a newer version. Maybe do some classic ones like the slit-scan or a Light Defraction one, even a howlaround one would be good!
The Original Syn
There is a freeware screensaver for Mac OS X called "Plasma Tunnel." The first time I saw it, I thought "TARDIS TUNNEL!" It's not quite right, but the texture of the walls could be made proper. Add a TARDIS spinning randomly through it, and you have the right effect!
And the "Plasma Tunnel" is not a hog on the processor at all!
Jordan bos(11)
I think its great but needs the music
bob
cool but super slow
Hano(David Tennants Biggest Fan)
QUALITY its just sooooooooooooooooo AMAZING!!!
Hannah
It's great, but like mentioned before, it is quite obvios when it skips back to the beginning - and no time vortex is the same without the Tardis coming in - it could do what it does on the opening sequence and disappear into the distance.
Ian Kennedy
Start sequence would be better
Shanise
This screensaver is brilliant. It would be a lot better if it had the tardis flying through the vortex and have the sound or the doctor who theme in the background.
Henk ( Belgium)
Looks amazing, it's good to need esc to make disapear, is like a kidslock. But, it's very demanding and why does it wants access to the net?
Mutts2020
Looks fantastic until you actually try to run it. Im running a high end PC and it struggles.
As many others I would suggest losing the web links and adding at the least the the option to have sound.
Good try but not quite there yet.
Adrian.L. (14)
bit slow. link at the top ruins it, if the theme tune was added and if u saw the tardis more then it would be great.
Wreckage
Seems Clive Chapman is the only one to notice the 'phone home' part of the 'screensaver'. What information is it trying to gather? This comes under the category of 'adware' or 'spyware'. Please disclose the reason(s) for the attempted internet connection. All in all, deceptive, clunky (probably because of whatever other program(s) it's trying to run). Disappointing.
james greene torchwood10.piczo
its quite good but the thing is though is that it keeps freeeeeeezzzin and it should be compatible with windows movie maker
Bob
Runs very well on my 3.5Ghz PC with 2048 Mb RAM but very boring - only about 10 seconds of effects before it repeats with a noticable jump.
Make the sequence longer and in OpenGL - introduce the Tardis and get rid of the title bar at the top and internet connection requirement.....and you're there!
Sam Sharp (12)
Great screensaver, a little slow and jittery. Praps next time you could add the theme tune, but great any way thanks.
Doctor's brain
Not very interresting needs more excitment to it, could make a Dalek one.
Jess
The screen saver is good-o but at certain bits it takes forever to budge and at other times it's smooth as a baby's bottom. Also it made my whole computer run slow. Maybe in the screensaver though, maybe you could put in the TARDIS or have some blue as well as red for a nice change?
Jordan and Conor
Hi BBC, we are doctor who's biggest fans i love the show. My time tunnel screensaver is downloading now, i cant wait for it to be finished i have been looking for one for ages. Thanks again BBC for the great show. DOCTOR WHO ROCKS!
teh jimbob o.o
i think you should concentrate your efforts on a longer opening theme rather than ending as a screensaver as then you would have the tardis ready and it would be like having your own doctor who episode come up when you leave your computer and maybe at the side a tarids console that can move you to catch up to the tardis or watch it disapear into the tunnel
shannon
it kept stoping half way through i am sorry i wont use it
Fiona
I want the tardis bopping around with all the sound the full works possibly with a choice of which Dr and which episode, so come on get working on the IT
amy johnson
i think the screen saver is wicked may i see more x
Chris
Too resource intensive for my meager 1.5Ghz P4 with 64Mb GeForce 3 as it is very slow and keeps pausing. Tried to connect to the internet (which my firewall blocked) - why does it do this without any asking? Basic visual concept is good and similar to some savers I used to use on 486 based PCs, so why so resource hungry? I would like to use it, but the resource issues need to be solved first. We don't all have supercomputers!
John Zielinski
Animation is initially a bit slow on Mac OS 10.4.5, but then picks up and runs quite smoothly. My guess is that ther's startup overhead while the sequence loads, but once in memory it flies.
curtis morgan
Definately base it on the opening titles, have the TARDIS in it and the music, i mean you say for copyright reasons, but we all got the series dvds if any of us were to record the music we'd get it off the dvds.Plus 'make your own title credits' (instead of having the actual credits Christopher Eccelston, Billie Piper, maybe you could change what the text says.) Yeah, the theme tune on it would be nice.
Jake How from luton
I am a big doctor who fan and i think this screen saver is the best one i have seen it rules.
Terry Wels
Slow but over all effect great. Older system only 512 ram and 1.6 pen 4. No problems running.
Silentshot
Thats a great screensaver.
I have had no problem on either my laptop or my PC.
Make another one...
Captain Nuge
Pretty good, but it is jumpy, and the links ruin it a bit, when they come up, it slows down considerably. TARDIS engines would, indeed, be good. Also, if it is absolutely necessary to manually cancel out of the screensaver, how about some sort of control panel that is reminiscent of the show? A less jumpy version would be good.
The One Stefan
It ran at the correct speed for a while. Then it slowed down, to an almost stop. I have got Windows Me, with a 1Ghz processor and 256MB Memory with McAfee Internet Security Verison 7. Why does this screensaver have to ask to be connected to the Internet? I let it connect and you then get links to the Doctor Who Web Site. These links spoil the appearance of the screensaver.
Cyvros
Great screensaver! Problem is, my nice desktop which usually runs at a very, very nice speed is almost brought to a grinding halt.
I agree with almost everyone else - Murray Gold's theme would sound great with it, and if it wasn't as demanding on my computer (an MPEG or AVI instead of SWF).
Otherwise, I think that it really works.
David Adams (16) from Telford
Great saver, a little slow on PC and Windows XP. could do with developing a little further, maybe introduce the tardis more into the mix. other than that, gr8 saver! Thanx!
Lou Yoskowitz
I agree that it could be a little longer, that "blink" when it loops is very noticeable. I agree there should be some sort of sound, whether it's the theme, or the dematerialization sound, could be either.
I also agree that it might be nice if the TARDIS could be included. Maybe have an option that lets you put it in if you want.
What I can do without is the link at the top of the screen. It kind of ruins the illusion.
If I may suggest something to maybe start it off differently: Start it from inside the TARDIS. When the screensaver starts, you see a hand start the dematerialization process, the "camera" pulls back to show the TARDIS console operating, and then we pull back very quickly to the tunnel. Maybe seeing the TARDIS exterior for a second or two, and then the view shifts to "first-person".
oll lewis
installing it was a bit of a slog, but once it was installed and the installer prog was closed it worked fine and was very impressive.
So, "I'm going to put this on as my screen saver this is jolly good." thinks I. Imagine my shock and upset when I found that the only way to get this good looking screen saver to retire from my screen was pushing the escape button. I don't know wether it's just me that suffers from that problem, but problem it was. I know that it has to be that way for people to operate the links at the top, but I'd prefere it if it was just a screen saver without those bits.
Top class job apart from that, mind.
matty hutchinson
love the screensaver but it's a bit too slow and needs the music.
James
Tried it on my year old computer and it works alright, judders at times. Could do without the weblinks though, and a TARDIS flying down it really would make it the perfect screensaver.
An operating TARDIS console (if it had the sound effect) would be a pretty cool screensaver too.
Paul (USA)
It runs on my PC, but I wish that it would exit when I move the mouse. I imagine most people have this page bookmarked so there is probably little need to have the hompage linked in the screensaver.
David French
Great idea, a little slow and it doesnt revert back to windows when I want to and have to restart PC.
Daria
It looks very nice, though you're right in that it's a bit taxing on the machine. That said, it's a great screensaver.
Simon Lewis
I think that even HAL 9000 would have trouble running this screensaver...
I don't think you thought this through enough - PLEASE do a simpler version as every 'Whonatic' will want this. I really liked the fact that you did a version for us Mac users - Douglas Adams would be proud!
Chloe Cool Queen
Excelent! Beautiful! A fine piece of work. It will become my screen saver in September, when I get my own Computer!
Ryan Robinson
it goes ok until it puts the dr who news at the top then it goes sloooowey how about without the news at the top?
Jag
Screensaver is a little jerky despite, being operated on a new pc.
My initial thoughts would be to drop the web link for reasons previously stated
Possibly lengthen the time tunnel or rely on a seamless break to make it smoother.
By incorporating a random moving TARDIS and/or Doctor Who disc as seen in the title sequence would add the the 3D effect and could be options for possible settings.
Hoping to see a revised version for the WHOVIANS
- ONLY TIME WILL TELL -
BadDog
I'm guessing this isn't optimized for 3-D rendering hardware. The look is beautiful, but much less dynamic than the actual sequence.
H Matthews
This looks & is really great. I've been looking forward to this for a long time!!
Steve Walker
It definitely needs speeding up and sound, music and tardis engines. Other than that it's cool
Thirteenth Doctor
Yeah, I'd say it's a little hefty for the computers. It looks neat, but do ya' think you could manage to make it a little bit smaller in file size? I have Windows XP, and it's slow even on IT!
S.N (15)
A great screensaver, but again even though i'm on the fastest broadband connection it takes too long to load and perform, frame by frame. Get rid of the website connection, PLEASE, it's a screensaver after all; not an advertisement, and also it didn't respond to my mouse movement. I have to agree again with some of the comments above, it really needs the theme with it! Good but please keep trying...
Rachel
It's been said before, it's a short loop and it's obvious when it starts again. Be nice faster, higher res... Other then that it worked just fine on my computer but I also have a gamer system. ;-)
RichieTimeLord
Picture frames take up to much space and too slow even if it looks nice. Could it be re-created using direct graphics animation? Also selecting the quality to speed would be good.
I'd like to see sequences emulated and an option to set it on random would be good.
*IMPORTANT* Sticking up text and logos that stay in one place defeat the whole reason to having a screen saver.
Neal Douglas
It runs perfectly well, and the thing is beautiful but when I want to stop it, it takes forever.
SD
Reasonable, but slightly demanding. A lower-resolution screensaver would be necessary.
Kittenmommy
Works great on my iBook! Thanks for making a Mac-compatible version!!!
sam
Sadly very slow! A Tardis would be FAB and it wouldnt matter TOO much without the music - when it starts it could perhaps do the the "CRUUWX" noise like at the end of each episode.. But defo spinning tardis and maybe 3 versions Lo, Mid, Hi so that slow machines wont die.
THANKYOU SO MUCH :)
steven askew
A great idea, but it crashed my machine every time!
How about having a series of screensavers based on each title sequence?
Pob
My laptop can't handle it, sadly, but I imagine it looks gorgeous on a high-end set up.
Any chance of a few tweaks to make it less processor-hungry?
Iain mac Ailean
Very slow at times on my machine (2.8ghz/512mb RAM) which is a pity - looks good when at proper speed. Being an antediluvian old fogey I would have preferred the Bernard Lodge Slit Scan sequence.
James Potter
Very good. Works fine on my machine, but it's a beast. It could do with sound though and maybe a TARDIS?
Shemyaza
Brilliant Screen Saver runs fine on my machine. I know the problems with the legal rights to the theme music but it would finish it off nicely.
Dr Ruth Mackie
Ran fine until it asked to connect to the net. Kept asking (so spoiling screensaver view) until I gave in. Then was dead slow, frame-by-frame, even though I am on fast broadband. PLEASE remove web connection feature - most people who download this will log in regularly to the Dr Who site anyway. Otherwise very pretty - maybe mak it longer and more varied, images from episodes, past Doctors?
chris242
looks and runs great on my dual 1.8ghz G5 tower with 2gb of ram, but lags on my 867mhzPowerbook G4 with 1gb of ram.
steven knight (12)
ok, it slows down my downloading, and nortan anti virus 2005 said it was a RED HIGH RISK and has infected my compyter it goes very very slow and gets stuck so i have to do crl alt n del to get it working 10 mins later so i have changed it back to the christmas countdown and thats working fine, i have a 64 gb p.c if that helps at all.
Ben
Very well done. At the end, it repeats back to the beginning, which is very obvious. A little faster and a little longer would make it perfect
Russ Simpson
A bit taxing on my processor, but the most FANTASTIC sctrrn saver I've ever seen... Win XP 256 MR, 2.4 Grtz
D JENNISON
FANTASTIC TITLE SCREENSAVER ONLY THING THE TARDIS IS A MISS AND IT KEEPS STOPPING.OTHERWISE LIKE YPUR WEBSITE FANTASTIC.DAVID
emma heather
great , but very slow on my windows xp sp2.
Cula Jackson
It's a cool idea, but it's pretty slow.
I'd like to see a version with a Tardis traveling through the vortex. A set of desktop wallpapers to go with it would be nice too.
Alyd
What a splendid screensaver! Thank you very much :) I'm sorry that those with slower machines are enjoying it less, but that is NOT the fault of the screensaver. I think it is a lovely screensaver :)
John Rodriguez
A bit too slow and quite pixel-y...my PowerBook G4 seems to run it fine, though. Needs to be faster, have sound. But great effort.
AndyMan
Looks good on my Mac PowerBook 17" G4 with OS X Tiger, but the motion is very slow. How about unleashing the power of an OpenGL screensaver?! That would be FANTASTIC!
PRAEst76
Slowed my 1.6 duron Geforce 4 based machine down to a crawl loading the animation. I even seemed to lose my network connection for some reason.
Be nice if us classic fans could get a screen saver of the silvery Tom Baker era vortex. It would probably be a less resource hungry vintage experience for vintage users with vintage computers.
Gary Pownall
What about us Linux users? You screensavers don't work outside of windows. What about reworking your screensavers to also work with the x.org windowing system.
http://www.x.org/
Pretty please
korkymcg
Get negotiating, it's nothing without the music!
Keith Farmer
Eek. lasted about 2 seconds then my spanking new PC ground to an unsightly halt. I suggest taking a look at the way some Winamp visualizations (Geiss in particular) work and basing it round code of that sort. should be a lot less processor intensive and look just as cool, if not cooler.
The occasional little TARDIS tumbling through the vortex wouldn't go amiss either.
Theo Lotz
Windows XP SP2, 3.06ghz Hyperthread, nVidia geForce4 MX440 (64mb) --- it is a bit jerky and the hard drive runs quite a bit. Strange for 5 seconds or so of a looped flash anim.
Alex had good point of making sure the end and the start fit better so it doesn't look looped ...
Keep it up, love to test a new version for you! and I would LOVE to see a 4th Doctor's version of the tunnel :)
Ash, Southampton
It's a wonderful idea, but has two problems. Speed is one, I'm not sure why it's such a memory chewer. I play MPEG files just fine on my PC, why not just having a looping MPEG video? Secondly, what's the deal with the logo and the website address?! Do people not realise that the purpose of a screensaver is to prevent burn-in? So instead of a windows desktop permanently burned into a screen you get the Doctor Who logo. Nice! No problem with having it there, but please move it around a little bit!
Jeremy K
Runs great but one complaint. The point of a screen saver is to prevent burn-in. To do this effectively the screen saver should have no part which is static. Hence the menu bar at the top has to go.
The Doctor
I thought it was quite splendid for a first try. Obviously a little work needs to be done such as making the saver longer, transistion from red to blue, and finally the TARDIS or the Doctor Who logo popping up every once in a while.
Peter T (25)
Great screen-saver. Can tell it's a pilot run due to jumpy tunnel and that it won't switch off when keyboard/mouse is activated. Looking forward to the finished product. As for comments on other parts of site, looking forward to seeing outcome of what you have installed for us as a classic audience and new audience.
Brian
Looks good, does put some strain on the machine's resources, though. Possibly add in the blue/purple-ish tunnel?
Danny Stewart
Absolutely love it! Great to finally see the end credits time vortex on its own. My only gripe is that in the credits it goes from blue to red then back to blue before the end. This is just red. If you could make it longer, along with a less abrupt loop, then this would be THE perfect screensaver, anywhere, anytime. (Also, perhaps an option to remove the BBC stuff at the top? I don't mind it but it is nice to just lose yourself in the vortex...)
Danny Buoy
Nice idea - tried it on a 2.6ghx pc and it worked well.
Tried it on me Mac (albeit a mac mini which has only 32mb graphics, but 1gb of ram running OX 4.1 and a 23 inch screen) and it was not so good. But it would be brilliant if you could crack it for bigger screens with a higher resolution - dont worry about the processing power so much - most people will be able to run it fine.
Katy
I can't get any of these DW screensavers to do anything on my machine. I just get a folder and a plain document out of the ZIP, and when I try to fiddle with Screen Effects, it doesn't work.
I'm on a 600Mhz iMac with Mac OS 10.2.8.
Maybe putting up a guide on how to install it, either on the website or in the ZIP file itself, would help, since it's just baffling me.
Cheers.
Martin
Slow, but it works, and better than I expected given my PC's age (Win 98, 128MB Ram) and some of the other comments. I really like the design!
']['arQuin
No sorry chaps, I've seen beter fan made savers, less memory intensive and looking far better, all it needed was a little avi player like the old tomorrows world screen saver, dig that out change the title and add a dr who opening avi file to it and bobs your mothers brother.
Jack Green
Again, what everybody has said, too slow. Great effort... perhaps an idea would be to use the Tom Baker intro?
Mathew CHild
I'd prefer to have no links to the internet, and not have to cancel the screensaver by pressing escape.
It did jerk somewhat on my PC and it's a Pentium 4 HT @3.2ghz and a radeon 9700 vga card
Although I do like the idea and encourage you to work on it. Maybe using direct3d instead of a movie clip.
Julian
Suitable for 2Ghz G5 iMacs and upwards I think.
Becki
oh my gosh that is so cool if u cud add the music it would be the best eva!!!!!!!!!!!
Tony Case
While the vortex effect is cool effect, the functionality as a screensaver is undermined by having the Who logo and text at the top of the screen. The whole point of a screensaver is to prevent static images burning into the monitor - which wont work if the screensaver itself has a static image!
Daniel
its bad do a regrenation one with lights and sonds please
freker
A bit slow on some machines, need more varied colours, excellent! Maybe you could put in a Tardis but make it optional. Plus 'make your own title credits' (instead of having the actual credits Christopher Eccelston, Billie Piper, maybe you could change what the text says.)
Yeah, the theme tune on it would be nice.
Anna Glover(11)
its really cool. but it is really hypnotising. it so pretty. my bro says that if I stare at it too long I'll go mad. too late for that though! :-)
Jane
Great screensaver but very slow. When it finally gets back to the page it crashes and i have to shut the computer down and start all over again! Can you please add some music as well.
Paul Cooksley
Shame - this has great potential - but as just about everyone has said - it is just too demanding - even on a poweful machine like I am currently running. In fact I had to completely un-install it and shut down/restart as it slowed my whole pc down (Windows XP) - My advice is -at the present time it is not worth downloading - but nice idea ...
Lets hope someone can sort it out ...
J Wilkinson
Slow and jerky and the definition could be higher. Does not loop seamlessly either.
Rassilon
It's very nice, but runs slowly and is a bit jerky.
Mad Un'
Runs very slowly for me (and my computer isn't that old and runs most things perfectly). Screensavers shouldn't really be this demanding. Still, nice effort although personally I'd like to see a screensaver showing each of the doctor's incarnations in turn. That'd be brilliant.
Oliver Double
It looks amazing, but it won't disappear again when I move the mouse- I have to press Esc to make it go away
Stu Crew
Very good. quite slow but good graphics. perhaps some sound? i suggest either the TARDIS or the Theme tune? also, could be longer and the re-start transition made a bit better, it is quite obvious!
Ben
The sceensaver looks great but it really isnt the same without the theme song! the sooner you can get round the copyright the better! that would make it perfect
Kimberly Thompson
Pretty screensaver, but it is taxing my machine. It seems to crash my systray when it exits.
WinXP SP2
Dell Dimension 4800 - 2.4ghz/256mb RAM
nick longhurst (13)
loved it!!! It was amazing I got lost in it. good job!!!
p.s am i submitting to much?
james ronan
grate ss but very slow and needs sound
S Doyle
Have installed on an iBook 800MHz, with 640Mb RAM, and OSX 10.4.1, and I’m afraid it doesn’t seem to be firing on all cylinders: very, very, slow. I think I will be taking it off again - but thanks for the effort!
Jamie
The screen saver is cool but after 30 secs in windows either in propetis where it has a very small preview of the screen saver or the large preview it goes VERY VERY VERY slowly and gets stuck. My computer is a good spec.
richard friar
votex screen saver seems to run very slowly
Ben James
Good, but a few number of crashes in between the animation. I would rate it 3 out of 5. (PC User)
Matt, UK
Running Win2000 on an increasingly bug-ridden AMD-K6 3D processor, this seems to be a bit out of my league. Even the thumbnail version on the install screen caused massive lag, and the installation took forever.
The saver itself, when it does run, is jerky enough to not really satisfy, and also seems a bit horizontally squidged, although that could just be an artifact of the distorting graphics.
We once devised a screensaver version of the Tom Baker time-tunnel, which did its own real-time slit-scan rendering. Would that be a more practical approach than this stuttered video-frames technique?
Clive Chapman
It was a bit touch and go starting off, even with over 700 meg of RAM, also it did not help that the screen saver programme was trying to contact the Internet. The preview browser fell over, and the system froze for a few second. But it seems OK .... for now
Jason Lee Reynolds
Fantastic Screensaver , shame you didint ad the Doctors Tardis , the again you could have added each theme to it as if it was on a cd playing each them from Ron Graners original 1963 doctor who theme to the new superbly fantastic 2005 series theme . nevermind thou . . . . FAN-TASTIC ! .
The Keeper
Very very good, a little jerky at times though.
Richard Long
It looks great - but, as you say, it is quite demanding on the computer (and I've got a brand new machine) and so is a bit jerky. Any chance you could do a lower-resolution version?
Sarah Hadley
Lovely test screensaver - unfortunately it does seem a bit taxing on my (nearly new) computer, but that's only for the first "run-through" of the animation. Then it works perfectly. It'd be great if you could expand it out a bit to incorporate the blues and purples of the full titles, and then fade back into the reds (perhaps an animation loop of about forty-five seconds?). Anyway...very nice...
Chris Maples
The screen saver works just fine. I wish you would remove the advertisement/links to your website. That takes away from the effect too much for my liking. It is a distraction. Also the repeated clip is only about 5 seconds worth of "tunnel effect". I thought we were getting something to the effect of a "clean title sequence" but we don't. It seems "based on" means a 3 second repeated clip. It's fine though and thanks for the offer. I enjoy the Christmas screen saver much more as it's far superior.
Dave Pashby
1ghz laptop. 512MB memory. Kills my machine stone dead.
Voodoo Doctor
Intensive on a fast system (Athlon 3200XP with 1Gb RAM). Didn't run too smoothly. Why does a screensaver have to access the internet?
Sean Boyle
A Time vortex screensaver is a fantastic idea!!! You could create a simpler and more complex saver for people with low processor power but it really shoudnt be a problem for most people i shoudn't think. GREAT IDEA
Josiah Rowe
Yeah, it's a bit slow, but what do you expect when your screen saver encompasses the entire Time/Space Vortex?
WootyWes
It works properly for a few seconds, then starts to jerk horribly and slow everything down. This machine is 2.6GHz...Celeron admittedly, but even so, if it's not working properly on this then it's likely not to on most. Why does it have to be flash btw? Could it not just play a .avi, or indeed just a simple animation rendered frame-by-frame from the original clip? It might work more smoothly that way. Thanks, though, it'll be a great screensaver when it's finished.
Steve W 32 Bristol
Nothing Tried, nothing gained. If not the title sequence, how about the Tardis Console (which I seem to be addicted to), working in a screen saver.
gemma
the new screensaver is really good.I would recommend it to anyone.I came out fine on my computer.I wasn't demanding on my computer at all
Alex Webb (14)
Very good. My thoughts are that it could be longer as well as faster. Also, when it goes back to the beginning, everything changes and it looks really ovious. Extremely good for a first attempt though, hope to see a newer version in the future.
