Fear Forecast: World War III

Fear Factor 3 say our children's panel.

Our fearless four tally the terror in episode five.

SCARY MINUTES AND MAGIC MOMENTS:

THIS WEEK'S QUOTE: "Oh no! They're getting the really high-up people together - to slaughter them!"

(1) The Slitheen are electrocuted by the Doctor - both Harry and Amy are a little scared!

(3) Samuel amused by Mickey taking a photo of monster. "Those aliens are really freaky!"

(4) Adam is impressed when the Slitheen gallop through the Downing Street corridors. "Agile, aren't they?"

(4) Harry grins at the lift scene. Amy frowns.

(5) Harry thinks the monsters must be 'really pongy!' Amy is chewing her hair band.

(5) Relief from Samuel and Adam as the Doctor escapes the soldiers.

(7) Monster hide and seek - Harry is wide eyed, Amy cuddles up to Mum.

(9) Samuel laughs when Rose tells the MP, "Lots of planets have a North."

(11) Harry works out that some of the folk entering Downing Street are aliens. "He's a bad guy. She's a bad guy. He's definitely a bad guy! Poooooo!"

(12) Adam appalled: "Oh no! They're getting the really high-up people together - to slaughter them!"

(14) While the Doctor & chums confer, Amy decides to draw some pictures of the TARDIS crew.

(17) Adam and Samuel amused when the Doctor has to be nice to Mickey.

(18) Adam writes down the UNIT password - that will obviously come in handy at some stage.

(19) A policeman calls. Harry a little scared and excited. Amy distracts herself by continuing to draw.

(20) Slitheen policeman at the door of the flat. Samuel snuggles closer to his sofa cushion.

(21) Samuel and Adam laugh at MP's use of the word "fart". Twice!

(22) An "ewww!" moment for both boys when the Slitheen explodes.

(24) Both boys baffled by dad's laughter at: "massive weapons of destruction can be deployed in 45 seconds". Dad declines to explain. "Children won't understand those jokes," chides Samuel.

(29) It's all kicking off! Harry chews his collar nervously, while Amy demands to be picked up by Daddy.

(31) Samuel and Adam go very quiet as the warhead races towards our heroes. Harry admits to being a bit scared. Amy puts her hands over Daddy's eyes.

(32) Samuel, Harry and Amy laugh when the soldier bursts in on the naked Slitheen.

(33) Samuel ponders what the Slitheen's final word was. "Did it begin with bu- or with fu- ?" he ponders aloud.

(34) The threat averted, both Harry and Amy relax and begin to chat excitedly over the rest of the episode.

(36) Adam and Samuel amused by Rose's mum asking about the Doctor: "What does he eat? I was going to do shepherd's pie."

(39) Adam laughs when the Doctor tells the kid: "Graffiti that again, and I'll 'ave yer."

(42) Adam and Samuel are both sad for Rose's mum when the TARDIS dematerialises.

(43) Tremendous excitement from all four when the dalek appears at the end of the trailer for next week's show.

The Fear Factors

1: Mildly Scary
2: Quite Scary
3: Very Scary
4: Chilling
5: Terrifying

joe
i absoloutly love doctor who. so sad its not coming back until christmas. this one not the best but still...... fantastic! fear factor 2.

Caitlin (8)
I didn't think it was scary at all because it was an alien and aliens don't scare me if there on doctor who (but daleks scare me!)

Fredders Mcgraw
This was a really good episode but the slitheen were a bit strange. when the are just CG creatures then they are really agile but when they are rubber costumes then they don't run, they waddle.

Saiyaeh (16, Australia)
My eyes were, and always are set on the Doctor for the most part, but the aliens were amiably fashioned in that they were very unique and fascinating. Considering some of the issues brought forth I found it refreshing to see the Doctor more serious, and in that, I find him more striking. It is hard to say what the best part of the entire episode was, so I’ll just utter that it was all fantastic (except the part where Rose’s mother was crying, for it looked bogus). 6/10 from me.

Anna
Matthew my little brother HATES Doctor Who he crawls awa into the dining room to get a snack from my mum!

Hugo s
Fantastic , it was quite chilling aswell!!

james H
Nice episode. But i couldnt take it as serious as the others. The Slitheen didnt really look scary to me, although i wouldnt want one up my nose for a wart! Its nice to see a new creature however. The farting business and lumpy aliens made this a more comedic Who episode for me, but thoroughly entertaining. Well done.

Megan Bowler
A great show- The slitheens really made me jump sometimes!

Claire Leach
the slitheens are so cool and with the skin suit WOW whoever came up with that idia should get a medal

Sir Barnaby
Um...this wasn't what I expected. I'ts not scary at all. The one before was great, but it is just out of place. Not scary! Not chilling, just a little exciting. I have to say, the fear factor was just a meer 2 this week.

Adam (7)
Very good and very funny.

Saz
Doctor Who is da best but I was too scared to watch the first few episodes!! Now I watch it as much as i can!! I am saving up for the DVD!! None of them are scary though!

Chris
Wow... Now this is what I call decent. I even based a History presentation about the Civil War on Dr. Who. Iv'e yet to show it to the class, though.

Hannah
Definately the best TV series ever! Dr Who rocks!

Joseph
Not as good as dalek and not as scary as the unquiet dead. Has anyone noticed bad wolf keeps appearing everywhere.

Julk
Doctor who is great, and i think that it is brilliant that it is for all ages, also its the best thing on saturday night TV. I would give it a fear factor of 2, because it really is that not scary, the villians look more cool than scary.

Seb
The new series has been pretty good so far. Dalek and The Unquiet Dead have been the best two episodes so far. Dr.Who isn't always scary but some episodes are can be quite scary and disturbing. I was quite afraid when i watched Tomb of the cybermen (classic episode) when i was about 5.

Tessa Clear
I think Doctor Who is the best thing I have ever seen in my entire life and all I talk about is Dr Who!! I am eleven years old and I am taking my SATs next week and if I'm asked to write a story I will make up my own Doctor Who adventure!!!! I wish I could think of monsters so eergurrh! Dr Who has made me feel different and your exellent episoads made me want to to take part in acting and I would do anything to take Billie Piper's seat and touch a Dalek!!!!!!!!!!

Nicholas Parlay
It's all right, probably better than Aliens of London, but again, it was a disappointment. I'd give it a Fear Factor of 2 - entertaining, but not particularly original or imaginative.

Rebecca and Eleanor
We love this series of Doctor Who, and can't wait to see the next one every week. We are a little disappointed that Christpher Eccleston is only doing 13 episodes, we were hoping he would stay just a little bit longer. We are both twelve and think that Casanova just won't cut it as the new Doctor Who. We hope Billie Piper stays on though, she's really funny. We think that Doctor Who is the best TV series in the world, and there's no way we'd miss it.

Sarah
I am 14, i don't find Dr Who Scary, but that doesn't stop it being the best progamme on TV!

Chris C
I can't wait for the next episode of Doctor Who! Can't wait! Just can't wait!

HarryWatkins
Wicked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

katie & Maja
Doctor who is soooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!! cool!

Mac
We got into the Unit web site using both passwords. When I fired a missile my 6-yr old daughter ran to the window and asked (a little anxiously ) if we had just killed anybody.

Martin
I waited with intrepidation as to what the new series would bring having watched the PERTWEE/BAKER years as a child and having hid behind the seatee. Now i can sit there and enjoy the chills and thrills through my little two and half year old daughter eyes. It's the only time of the week she sits still. She knows the names of the characters and mimics the monsters. Her latest phrase "EXTERMINATE" Carry on the good work all involved and may DR WHO live on for many years

John D
I LOVE the fact that the new series is aimed specifically at all ages! Now I can watch it with my son, my wife, my relatives...it's a family experience! And the fact it isn't aimed solely at teenagers is a DEFINITE PLUS!

Dave
My 7 year old Jonathan is watching it with me, but as soon as Lucy (4) sees a monster, she runs from the room screaming!

Brenna
I'm 16 and to me, Doctor Who isn't that scary. My mom and dad don't agree though. The whole family loves it. Doctor Who rocks!!!

Daisy and Niamh
we are four and two and we love Doctor Who. Mommy and Daddy watch with us in case it gets too scary. We can`t wait for the Dalek next week

Simon Kennedy
My 5yr old & my self watch every week. The show is fantastic vewing. Now we have all the d.v.d. release's of the clasic series (and a few video) & Charlie even has a Tardis play tent in his room ! The new show rocks, long may it continue.

Simon
About time we had a great program like Doctor Who back on our telly and it looks better than ever and my little girl loves it, Brilliant.

Fred
Why on earth is the BBC aiming something with any "scare" content at small children? Especially when the vast majority of fans are adults. Why not aim for teenagers and above and provide something which is genuinely challenging and exciting?

Jeff B
My son, aged 6, fell to the floor laughing hysterically when he saw the Dalek trailer at the end of Episode 5. He's already made some model Daleks based on my memory from 30 years ago. This Dr Who exceeds all my expectations.

Clive B
My son Thomas is eighteen months old, and absolutely loves 'Doctor Who'! Any blue box is a TARDIS, and 'Daleks' are, quite rightly, a firm favourite!

Rachel E
I'm 5 and my Daddy loves Doctor Who, so I watched it. The first three were too scary and I went upstairs with Mummy. This week I watched it all: on Daddy's knee with a cushion to hide behind. The most scary thing was the music because you knew when it turned scary that something bad was going to happen. I like Doctor Who a little bit now.

Kim
My 3 year old has a new variation on the sofa. He hid behind the door - but kept it open just a crack, still watching. He also had his arm over his head, when the Slitheen opened their own heads... but he still kept on watching. He also asks everyday for Dr Who and talked about 'splashing spaceships' all last week.

Graeme H
nephew aged seven missed it last night. Phone us this evening to tape it off BBC 3 now we're hidding behind the sofa as we didnt get home to after 8. So next week we'll be "exterminated"

Darren
With children as young as 4 delighting and cringing at the new series, I think a long tv tenure for the new Doctor is assured. I wonder how the kids will take to the Dalek next week. Im 34 and incredibly excited.

Tom
Great idea! One thing that might be useful would be Fear Factor ratings for the first three episodes to give parents a basis for comparison.

Christine S
As a very critical 15 year old, i usually have to find fault with a part of every programme....but i didnt with this one. Doctor Who Rules!

Graham
This is such a great feature! Though my family doesn't have any young kids, we all gather round the TV at seven o'clock nonetheless for the latest instalment... Next week, I look forward to reading the Fear Forecasters settling the age-old question: are the Daleks still scary?

Bethany
i think its so cool and want them to make a dvd that would be so cool i love it age:10

Julia w
I have a 5 year old son who loves it and asks almost every day 'is Dr Who on today?' He doesnt get scared and even finds some bits funny.

Tori
I saw the unit site before the episode and I was confused-it looked so real, no detail left out. Then I picked up the Doctors login and was amazed that I could get past the secure login with it! Fantastic idea-lets have more of that!

Bud Groover
Excellent work! This page is the best thing a television network has ever done. Except for bringing back Doctor Who. Keep up the original thinking.

Dalek
...EXTERMINATE!

ben
i love doctor who it is the best saturday night program ever

Kate
Just found this site - is excellent - watched in terror as a child and now watching with my kids (10 and 6. It's the only time of the week that they actually want to be with me!!!!

Tim
I've loved the show as long as I can remember and now the whole family sit around and watch on a saturday night. My five year old son clapped his hands at the sight of the dalek and immediately asked how many days it was until the next episode.

alex
I am 10 but I only find dr who fear factor 2.I try to never miss an episode but when I do,I get my brothers to record it for me cause it is to good to miss!

Caroline
The new series is fantastic! Love all the aliens so far! My 3 year old son, Scott, loved the Slitheen - he sat and giggled hysterically when they ran about!

Bezza
Great episode once again. I am only 15 and not seen any of the previous Doctor Who series, but I am really looking forward to eeing the Daleks in action for the first time!! I am actually taping every episode because I am that addicted to it. It is absolutely fantastic!!

Fanlayenae
i have toroughly enjoyed it so far and hope it continues. i'm 15 and missed ''the old'n days'' so this a real treat...

ian

mjl
I am now scared to go upstairs because i think that there is a slithineen my mum and dads room

Harry H
I think Its a cool idea so I can hid behind the sofa in advance.

Simon B.
What a great idea! Doctor Who should be for kids after all. My kids, Sophie (9) and James (5), love the show and talk about the next episode throughout each week. Bring on the Daleks!

Natalie G
It's the best thing I have ever seen in my life! I am only 10 but I didn't find it that scary-I was glued to the tv screen!

Matt
Just to say congrats on the internet support for the show, particularly this new section and the on-the-fly interactivity of the Lies and Unit sites. Almost more than the series itself, it's a perfect model of how things should be done.

Christian(30...)
Lovin' it. Absolutely lovin' it. My 4yr old son hides in the same way I did at his age !!!! behind the living room door.....

joe
wicked not scare. Wow! This is the sort of preview I like! It's spoiler free, and interactive! Plus it'll keep us coming back to the site, which can't be a bad thingd

steve m
hi love this idea have been a fan all my life (am now 37) and my 3yr old son loves the show we hunted newcastle for 3 weeks to find him a dalek toy as soon as the music comes on he stares at the tv and sings woo oo!!!!

latisia
i think it is dead cool but my sister hates and she is scerd to deth

J Vail
This page is great and the comments of these kids just warm the hearts of all of us old-time Doctor Who fans everywhere.

Luke
This is briiliant! I'm 21 and have loved Doctor Who for ages and still love it now, both old and new series alike! Its great to see that a new generation of kids are enjoying the series as I did! Can't wait till the daleks turn up soon!

Chris Buhagiar
The whole family love the show including my 1 and two year old daughters. As soon as the music comes on their heads spin towards the TV and they both go quiet and stay quiet right up until the end.

Nigey
My eight-year-old daughter loves it. My five-year-old also loves it but cuddles up for reassurance at certain points. And there was one moment in Aliens of London where he jumped a foot in the air! Family viewing is cool again.

Jacob Mason
Hi, I'm 15 and been a fan of Who for 5 yrs. Never hidden behind the sofa but was amazed at what I saw, it's nice to see Doctor Who in the 21st Century.

Phil S
I gotta say just like the old days a real Dr Who cliff-hanger, I love it. No room behind the sofa in our house. Anyway you miss the fun!

Tim B
My 7 year old daughter loves the new series and can't wait for the next episode!

Justin Thomas
What a fantastic idea! Its great to hear what the children think of the show and I'm great to hear they are enjoying it so much! And if they are getting a little scare from it - job done! Brilliant!

AlgernonB
Brilliant! A great resource, which might even help my brother convince his wife to let Megan (3 1/2) watch the show with him. He's 34, and scares easy...!

Dave Farmbrough
Without any prompting, behind the couch is EXACTLY where my three year old son Joseph decided to hide when the Slitheen made their debuts! Being scary is one of the many things that makes Doctor Who memorable and entertaining to the whole family.

James D T
What a great idea. Makes me wish I was watching the show with my nephew. He loves it but has only just turned one! My sister says whenever it is on, he is spellbound. I hope the new series is still around when I eventually have kids.

robert powell
its so cool i could watch it over and over again.

Richard
Possibly the best bit about this great idea is seeing just how long the list is -- packed with scary moments! Hurrah!

Tony Allen
Just found this section and read it with puzzelment& deep concern. My youngest,Natasha 6,watch the show and not scared. WHAT HAVE I DONE WRONG?Please help.

Tony D
Love this. It's given me the best laugh of the week. Thank you.

Su (age 40+)
Lovely! Can't wait to see what they were reacting to, and what they really said! (Bit worried about the 'ewww' moment - thanks for the warning!)

gavin
Its the most i've been hugged by my kids in months. I insist they watch every week so I get my cuddles. Bring on the Daleks.

Megan
Oh My god.. this series is the best!! I may only be 11 but i am addicted and have to tape every episode so i can watch it again and again! I love doctor who!!!!!

Rob McCow
This is absolutely lovely! For an old(ish) fan like myself, its great to see the reactions of youngsters to the new show!

Rich
This part of the site seems like quite a good idea. I'm surprised nobody thought of it sooner. Cool.

Dave W
Unfortunately I'm 42 and weigh 16 stone and nearly crushed myself trying squeeze behind my sofa last week. Timings of this sort will help me anticipate the frights. I'll know when to use a cushion to hide behind. You may have saved my life.

Steve F
This is a brilliant idea, well done !

craig
brill (not scared)

Faiz
Wow! This is the sort of preview I like! It's spoiler free, and interactive! Plus it'll keep us coming back to the site, which can't be a bad thing!

Nidge Solly
The noise in the morgue. Fear factor 4

Grant Mclanaghan
Not sure what I'm looking forwards to most; 'World War III' or the unedited comments!

Emma G
What a fantastic idea! I'm babysitting a nephew (aged 7) next Saturday so will definitely arm myself with a printout of this and a stopwatch...

Grant
WICKED!
