Meet the Fear Forecasters

Here are some children we scared earlier.

Meet Amy, Harry, Samuel and Adam. They're bbc.co.uk's Fear Forecasters.

Each week, they'll bravely report back on how scary the next episode of Doctor Who is going to be - giving it marks out of five.

They're also providing a guide to which minutes are scary - so really concerned parents will know just when to ask for something really hard to find in the kitchen.

Let's find out more about them...

What scares you most about Doctor Who?

Harry: When Mickey turned into a killer auton in the restaurant, and when 'the friendly blue ghost turned into the scary red one'.

Amy: When the arm attacked the Doctor and Rose. When the policeman unzipped his head.

Adam: When the ziphead monsters appeared.

Samuel: When the Doctor was hunting for the pig alien. Rose being hunted by dummies in the shop basement.

What are you normally scared about?

Harry: 'Things' coming out of the bedroom cupboard.

Amy: When it's very dark.

Adam: The dark, where things might be hiding.

Samuel: Gory things, like when I fell off my bike and broke my tooth.

What do you like most about Doctor Who

Harry: The monsters! The funny lines.

Amy: When the Doctor is being funny.

Adam: I like the way the Doctor has to hit the TARDIS with a hammer. And it was funny how the MP kept saying her name.

Samuel: The burping bin. It's good that the Doctor's not human, but he behaves like a human. And you have to concentrate so that you don't miss a thing.

The series so far...

Rose = 2 (quite scary)
The End of the World = 2 (quite scary)
The Unquiet Dead = 3 (very scary)
Aliens of London = 4 (chilling)

Daniel Roberts (15)
I cant really remember the original Doctor Who series, but i love this one! Christopher Eccleston was the best and i cant wait for the new series to start at christmas!

Ethan
My 4 year old son has been hooked from start to finish, even on the scary bits... his favourite baddies are the daleks, he enjoyed every bit! he is a bit dissapointed that he has to wait till christmas to see the next doctor who, but im sure it will be worth waiting for :-) Were sad to see chris go.. :-(

Michael
the last episode was the best because Rose killed all the Daleks

Lee Treadwell, age 13
I think the Anne Droid was scary! Aliens of London and World War Three were good. I can't wait until the christmas invasion, I am a Dr Who Addict!

cameron L B
I loved the episode with the gas masks. When I went on the Doctor who web page it got scared when I heard the word "mummy"

Becky
How on earth do you think of the wicked monsters?

Very sad mummy
It was fantastic!!!! But very, very sad. I spent most of the episode in tears - when the Dr sent Rose home, when Rose thought she had to live on without the Dr, when Jack kissed them goodbye, when Jack died, when Rose came back and saved the Dr, when the Dr kissed Rose, when the Dr regenerated.....I could go on! Excellent series, bring on the next one.

Katy
I have just watched the final episode and just had to say how a massive thank you to the whole crew of Doctor Who for creating such a brilliant show. I cried buckets as the Doctor regenerated and said goodbye to Rose. Christopher Eccleston has been a fabulous doctor and will be sorely missed. Billie Piper was excellent too and it was fab that she saved the world. Well done again.

Kathryn Haldane (10)
I have watched as many Dr Who episodes as I could and frankly they have all been great. I have particularly liked The Empty Child episode because it was so exciting and, well, scary. They have also been rather touching. I am sad that Christopher Eccleston is leaving but I'm sure the replacement (David Tennent) will be great. Look out for the smile (it is excactly the same as Christopher Ecclestons!)

Paul Holmes
My daughter(6) cried her eyes out when the doctor changed think she got quite attached to him.A great series that the whole family enjoyed watching togather. 100%

jessica miley
i am 12 yrs old and doctor who is my favourite t.v show. i loved the empty child and the haunting childlike voice scared me for days afterwards! i am very dissapointed christopher ecceleson has lest,as i thought he was amazing, but i am hoping the new actor will be just as good. i love rose's character as well and i rather liked captin jack - until they left him stranded on a planet in tonighrs episode! i act myself and i think doctor who must be fantastic to act in as it has some gr8 storylines. i've been wondering if you're going to do a jack-the-ripper episode as that could be very chilling. overall i'd just like to say thank you soooooooooooooooooooo much for producing doctor who as it totally rocks!!! luv jess -x-

William Griffiths (13)
I think the most scary episode of Doctor Who was "Father's Day" with the reapers. It was also very upsetting. I burst into tears! I think the Daleks are cool. Doctor Who wouldn't be Doctor Who without the Daleks!

Mr. Goose
My little 4 year old sister finds the episodes that are rated 4 or 5 on the fear factor not scary and the ones that are 1 or 2 on the fear factor she runs and hides! Wierd

Han
Im 13, and i have to admit that every episode i've watched, i've become even more addicted to the Doctor Who series. I had to hide behind the sofa when i was watching the Empty Child, especially at the end of it when Doctor and co. were surrounded by the empty child people. Its pretty much like how my parents did, and still do! Keep up the good job scaring my family BBC!

Niall
the gas mask child was the scariest. the best bit was either 'excuse me, would you mind not farting while i'm saving the world' or 'EXTERMINATE!' slitheen are the best baddies.

sam childs
I liked the sixth episode because Daleks are my favorite alien species that the doctor encounters. Besides when my mum was young she said they were scary I don,t find them scary and I am 11 years old and my likes it the most

Connor Bladon
I want one where the Doctor and Rose go to 1703 and 1545, if they go far into the past. I beg you, everyone of my classmates inclueding my teathers voted for a series where they go into the past. I rote a story for one in 1545, its about the doctor and rose travel back there and find out theres an illness going around and then when the moon comes out (I forgot to mention its in Easter)people start turning into Vampires which is very scary and then, you can do the rest and do not forget for it to be scary. Its just that I have done this before on a differnt program and it never worked please do it because then I would be the happest 11 year old kid in all the world, I think I,I will go and cry.

Daniel
I am glad Doctor Who has come back as I am too young to have seen the older series. I was excited to hear that the Daleks were returning but disappointed when I saw the episode and found out that the writers had made it soft instead of a killing machine. I hope this goes on for a long time.

Gwen Lelani {21}
Doctor Who is so good I think that The Dalek was Freaky! Especially when The Doctor went in and saw the Dalek he was so scared! I think Christopher Eccleston is a fab actor and Billie Piper is the best actor. I loved "Captain" Jack Harness He is so cute!

Raphael Fischer
The "All planets have a North" line was hilarious, and I feel that "The Empty Child" and "The Doctor Dances" were the most terrifying so far.

Aika
I like The Doctor Dances the best because I thought when Nancy said "I will always be your mummy" was so touching

Noah
There is somthing about the words 'Doctor Who' that lights everyone up, and i love the old series and I love this series DR WHO will travel through time and space forever!!

Nay
i love it!!! Some lines I'm still laughing at in the middle of school. No wonder people think I'm crazy

Arbnora {10}
I think Dr.Who is fab I think the ones that r in world war 2 it's so scary when thier heads start changing into gas masks I haven't been watching along time but i still think it's cool but idon't think it's fair that it's for 12+

Ewan (12)
I am addicted to the Doctor and It always makes me and my little brother's week. I saw Remembrance of Daleks with Sylvester Mcoy

Kate (15)
I watched the 'Empty Child' two-parter this weekend. I saw all the old episodes when I was nine and they terrified me: it's great to be really scared and this two-parter did just that! The worst part was when you realise that the gas-maked child is there with them. "I sent it to its room. This is its room..." Makes me shudder to think about it!

Andrew
We have Just got the new series here in Australia and after a long publisity campain reactions were mixed. Most people that I spoke to liked the new Doctor and Billie Pipper, but were disapointed the series wasnt a little more adult. Please try and remember most of your viewers here are over 18. While the characters are great, they need to have more of a scare factor pressence. Good job so far guys I just hope it keeps getting better

Amy
All my mates watch it at school and it is the topic of discussion from Monday to at least Wednesday. We all absolutely love it!

chicken wings
I was sooooooo scared of episode 9 and 10 with the gas mask kid asking for his mummy. And the first episode makes me look at the shop dummies in a strange way now. Anyone who doesn't like doctor who is very weird!

Bob Newman
As an old Dr Who fan (I've seen almost all of them), I think the new episodes are outstanding!

Doctor.Who addict
I am sooo addicted to Doctor.Who.....i was invited to a birthday party on a saturday but it was at 7:15 so i said i couldnt go because i will miss my beloved Doctor.Who....i love the dalek game i got one of my friends hooked on it...we spend all of our lunch times at school on it..my favourite one so far is The Doctor Dances...i found it really emotional..i cant wait for the rest to come out on dvd.

Sao
I think Father's Day was good because it had time-dragons!

tallulah
I was so scared the bbc are making it so good for kids

Katie
I like the one with The Slitheen in. The best part was when unzipped their heads and then this giant alien came out. It was the best one ever!!!!

Charlotte
I agree with ant, as how can you say a group of one girl of four and three boys of six, eight ,and twelve, is balanced? Maybe there should be a girl of about 14, because then you would get a teenagers views as well.

Emily
I love watching Doctor Who. I always watched the classic ones. But the new always sends me to the back of the sofa, not like the classic one.

Mark Mccartney
I didn't like the parts in episode 9 where you saw the empty child chapping at the window and saying "please let me in mummy.I'm scared of the bombs" and I was a bit freaked out when I saw the " Hitler will send no warning" poster. It was cool in a scary way.

Anna
Funny, the ones I thought scary are the ones they rate low... and Aliens of London was NOT scary, but then again I spoiled myself. I'm 13 and I think it's a thriller: not scary, not horrifying, but a nail-biter, and that's good enough.

Adam
I was well scared when The doctor and rose went to the past and saw that wrinkly face thing that his head turned blue and I was scared of her wrinkles.

meregedd
Love the new series, all of it. But I keep seeing hidden references to "Bad wolf" cropping up in different episodes. Whats this about? or will we have to wait till the "bad wolf" episode to find out?

Sara (11)
I think that Doctor Who is FANTASTIC and I want the script of it as well as meeting Christopher Eclesson and Billie Piper!!

Claire
Must admit I was never really a fan of the origional D.W (can't remember much of 'em being 20) but this series has converted me for good. Excellent plotlines, effects and top quality performances! Well done BBC!

Matthew riding
Well the 9 episode is just the bomb .My Sister{whos 16} sceams every time monsters with the gas masks come on AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Tandorla Smith
i am soooooooooo glad that the doctor is back!! if anyone is interested, my Mom was rescued by a cyberman once. she was in wooky hole caves and they were filming something for doctor who. she hates bridges and was halfway across one and she looked down. after that she couldn't move!! this cyberman came and actually carried her of the bridge!! see, they're not that bad after all!!

Henry Noble ( 9 )
I liked the World war 3 episode `cause my sister hid under the cushions! Also, when the alien exploded she screamed and ran to get vinegar!Classic.

Lindsay james martin
my brother saw lord of the rings,1,2 and 3 when he was 6 (12+) without flinching though áfter watching the first episode without problems he didn't want to watch the next 2! He said: "het maakt me bang voor de echte wereld" dutch for it makes me scared for the real world. (We live in amsterdam.)

Chris rushmere-York
Episode six was fantastis the way the Dalek started to fly was even more amazing than the Imperial Daleks Floating in Rememberance of the Daleks. I am very pleased to say that some of the kids at my school(Ovingham Middle School)will be helping to build a dalek with Mr.Cole who started Dr.Who club.

S Quinn
New Doctor- suberb. Ecclestone is getting better with each episode. Just one concern - you tell your children not to use bad language, but the Doctor (a role model?) makes excessive use of "What the Hell" and "Oh God". I'm no prude, but Tom Baker didn't need it.

jessica
i like doctor who because there is scary but at the same time funny and me(11) mt dad and little bro(5) are big fans and i would love the doctor´s and rose´s autograph

RabbiZvi
I love the way the show has been updated to make it appropriate for today's generation. The use of great script-writers and particularly of COMEDY writers, the use of single episodes to thrill and surprise, the superb casting (top notch actors in Dr Who?!) and the use of contemporary references (did we all get the WMD in World War III?) simply add to the thrill. I reck this has to be the best Dr Who series ever - like Pertwee plus Tom Baker on steroids. My son (aged not quite 4) loves it and wants to watch them all over again - and my wife, an American Who fan is in awe. Amazing.

Njal Munro (18 years old)
It's cheesy, it's brittish, it's Dr Who and im glad it's back. Episode 6 was rather moving i have no idea how the BBC made me feel sorry for a Dalek but they did, very well crafted episode. Personally i would like to see some more Dalek's some Cybermen and a other races re-introduced for the new generation. I will be disapointed that Christopher will be leaving but hey that's why regenariton was written into the script ;)

Ding dong
My brother is hooked on the dalek game and won't come off the computer when i need it

James Mann
It's great to see Doctor Who revitalised for a new generation. Love it! Keep up the good work!

Harry
i think the old Dr. who was good but this one is way better

christopher clarke
I love the Daleks my mum when she was little hid behind the safa

Millie
I am your average child and you would probably expect me to be scared of doctor Who ... IN YOUR DREAMS, MAYBE! I am not scared of docter Who one bit! Though i did freeze when the Pig was banging on the door and it seemed to everyone that the alien was alive again ... *shudders*. But, apart from that, it's unscary in my eyes. I am a really big fan of Doctor Who and like it much better than anything. I also think that the doctor and rose will fall in love. It's really cool that the doctor has got a 2nd assistant and I can't wait for the next episode! Doctor Who has made Saturday my favourite day and 7:00PM my favourite time!!!

Jessica Wilkinson
Me and my sister think the new series is great and we watch them every week.

Laura and Megan
We love Dr Who! It's really wicked and when things get scary he just comes on and it makes it a bit better! We loved it when the Dalek came back and it was able to fly! Our dad said that he used to watch it when he was younger, and that the Daleks were really scary. We didn't believe him but now we do! And also the Doctor is really funny and it's funny when he says things like 'fantastic' when the whole world is in danger!

Oscar
Doctor who is the coolest TV program ever. Its even better than the simpsons.

james shaw
Its really a shame that Christopher Eccleston has to quit the role of Dr Who. In my opinion he is the best choice ever. I've looked at various episodes of all the previous doctors and none can match the great performance that Eccleston is performing. Hes very funny at times and i really look forward to his witty comments, yet he is very myserious and very caring over his assistant Rose, which none of the others could do at the same time, which i think is very unique. I hope the next Doctor David Tennant is as just as good.

Becki-lou (age 14)
I only watched the first episode for something to do, but now I really like it. I can't wait for episodes 6 (because of the daleks of course) and 7 (because Simon Pegg - my favourite actor - is making a guest appearance). I love reading the Fear Forecast, and I can't wait to see what the kids think about episode 7!

chazamuffin
im 20 and i was spooked by the unzipping of heads! creepy. congrats on a fabulous programme

Emily Carhart.
I enjoyed the momement, when the Doctor hits his poor Tardis with his hammer.

jonathan
I think the fearforcasters is a fantastic concept, this is proof that who lives now and always

hannah mitchell and charlotte snape
I love doctor who and so does my friends but they all find it scary I think the scariest part was when the pig came out but you could not see it you could only hear it. but anyway i will be watching all the episodes

Chris Rushmere-York
I amd a big Doctor Who fan and im only 12. The new series is a must for all and at my school we even have a Doctor Who club where we watch past episodes. Im Loking forward to seeing episode 6.

James 9yrs and Emily 7yrs
The best thing about Dr who is that its scary and funny.I hide behind the cushion with Mummy. We Love it!!!

finn rawlings age 5
scariest monster : zombies scariest moment : the trailer to unquiet dead with the old lady zombie screaming. funniest bit : when the moxx spat at rose. final comment : love every single one except the 3rd one. too scary.

john foster
Saturday nights are amazing now, i have 7 children in my house and at 7.00 we have peace as all of them ranging from 4 to 35(me) sit in utter quiet for 45 minutes in utter amazement, well until one or more run round the back of the settee to hise. DW here to stay most definately

Fairy Nuff
We are all loving the new Doctor - Dave 18, Jim 21, Dick 56 and Me 56-and-a-half (old enough to remember the very first episode of DW!) - and yes, episode 3 scared the pants off of me. I had to go make coffee. Long may the regenerated show last!

John Putland
Sniff...i love this section. Suddenly I'm 7 again. I think im going to cry now.

Ben
i think its wicked im 13 and my dad made me watch the old doctor who but i think the new one is better by far because they didn't have good computer graphics then

alfie mcloughlin
it is great but I am 7...

Pebble
Fear forecasters, what a fantastic idea! (Though it might be nice to see Billie and Christopher's comments on the upcoming episode too.) Just's what needed for parents and children to make educated decisions about how much to watch.

Toby Durkin
I love the new series but then I would as I have watched DrWho since Jon Pertwee was the DR. Some of the new episodes have had me feeling like I was six again (which aint a bad thing as I'm 36 now lol) My favourite episode so far?? Unquiet Dead for sure!!

Dimon
This is the best website I have seen for years...what you lot are doing with the U.N.I.T stuff and "Lies" and everything is FANTATSIC.

Grant Webb
I thought the walking dead was scary i live near a graveyard.

David Coles
I Really liked episode 4 when the men kept farting

matthew
I liked the pig, when you think it is going to be scary, but it is just funny

Guy
Pipes, you're entitled to your view, but if you're not interested what are you doing looking at the site and bothering to comment on it?

Jack Riley
I think that the new series is a must for all children around the country

Imogen
All week I look forward to saturday hi all doctor who fans out there

Chuffski
Great stuff. The pre-credits cliffhanger to The Unquiet Dead (Mrs Peace screaming at the camera) scared the living daylights out of me, and I am looking forward to seeing what else is coming son that may sppok me. I am 29.

Daniel Hughes
Looks like the legendary behind-the-sofa moment has returned to us.

ant
The fearless 4....ahhhh sweet. This is a fantasitic idea. Instant reaction. How about adding an older girl into the mix to balance it out?

Steve Hurr
The comments by the fear forecasters just go to show what a wonderful guy RTD is to create a show entertaining to all ages. How difficult must that be?

Andy
Great idea, good series so far - but Martin, it's only a cliffhanger ending for about 10 seconds, right up to the preview of next week's episode when you see the doctor's OK again! Didn't have that in my day, etc etc.

Sunny
I like the pig. It is very funny!

Colin Doney
I showed the kids in my class "Rose" today. They loved it and want more! 30 eleven year olds can't be wrong. When Rose went down to the basement, I even heard one girl whisper "Don't go down there..."

Richard Bignell
Dear WhoHost, As a member of Doctor Who Space Comic's famous Time Team, I resent your suggestion that I am in anyway grown-up! Richard (Age 39¼)

gary
Genuinely a whole new generation hiding behind a cushion. My six year old has to watch but also has to have his cushion ready. I'm so pleased it's having just the right effect! And they're buzzing about it at his school!

Tony
Though I did not get to see the first episode, so far the rest have been brilliant. My nine year old son has seen the last ones and enjoyed them.Any chance of being a Fear Forcaster as well????

Valpy
What a fantastic idea! These are the opinions we should REALLY respect. I would love to see these guys maybe crop up in a future Doctor Who Confidential.

David J. Ashley
OK, admit it. You nicked this idea out of an old copy of DWM.

Who Host adds: We owe a great debt to both Doctor Who Magazine's Time Team (in which grown-ups watch classic Doctor Who), and an issue in which editor Gary Gillatt showed the classic series to schoolchildren.

This is a different spin, though, in that it allows both a fascinating insight on what some of our viewers really think about the show, and also provides genuinely worried parents with the inside track on how a range of children have watched an upcoming episode... and lived!

Gary Tams
I can't wait for these lot to see the daleks and a regeneration. now thats gonna be interesting!!!

dalek dude
I WANNA BE A FEAR FORECASTER!!!!

Ross Payne
I found episode 3 reeeeally spooky! The Gelth had my pulse pounding all through the story. I loved the idea of putting Charles Dickens in it, and the aliens in episode 2, and I intend NOT to miss episode 6. I love the Daleks!

Lee
Glad to see that the children are sticking up for the new Doctor! The fear and humour is what makes it so enjoyable.

Pipes
BBC get a grip, what a stupid society we live in.

Gary Pownall
This is just soooo fab! and the best affirmation that you can have on whether the new DW is doing it's job!! don't worry about the 'too Scary' complaints either, I waspetrified by the cybermen (tenth planet, moonbase) when I was a kid and I've grown up perfectly normal...........*reaches for cyberman helmet*

Kevin
10 out of 10, what a brilliant idea, getting childrens perspective can only be good for the programme

rach
i think that the new dr. who is the best. I dont no how people carnt whatch it wen its the new one.

Jan
What a brilliant idea, for a brilliant series. I also like it when the Doctor is being funny. Or in fact just being! I'm only 38 after all.

Matt
Excellent response to that "it was too scary" rubbish. Of course it was scary - it's meant to be - it's Doctor Who!

Faiz
Wonderful section! So glad to see a new generation of fans in the making!

Robert Miller
This is a great idea. It's brilliant to read reactions from kids on the new series. The best thing about Doctor Who when you were a kid was being scared and hiding behing the Sofa! Great Stuff!

Trevor
Forget the critics and fans like me who are well past their sell by date. These are the views that really count. Keep em coming.

Martin
Classic Dr Who ... the tingle up your spine and even the cliff hanger ending. Scary? A little ... but then I am 39.
