Welsh-born producer Julie Gardner is the new Head of Drama for BBC Wales.
Julie formerly worked as the Development Producer at London Weekend Television, where she produced dramas including Me and Mrs Jones and a multi-award-winning modern version of Othello - set controversially amid corruption and racism in the Metropolitan Police.
Julie attended Llangatwg Comprehensive School and Neath Tertiary College before going on to read English at the University of London. She returned to Wales to teach English for a year before her first stint at the BBC.
There, Julie worked on highly successful BBC One drama series such as Silent Witness, The Mrs Bradley Mysteries and Sunburn before moving to London Weekend Television in 2000.
Returning to the BBC earlier this year, Julie replaced former Doctor Who director Matthew Robinson as Head of Drama for BBC Wales. Robinson was responsible for such classics as Resurrection of the Daleks and, er, Attack of the Cybermen.
Gardner will be serving as executive producer on the new series of Doctor Who, alongside Mal Young and Russell T Davies.
