Peter McKinstry: "Again with the guns, we were trying something different. We hadn't had a bio-gun yet, so I decided it would be nice to suggest the idea of a creature being imprisoned inside a metal casing. When the trigger is pulled it stabs the creature, which then spits out its death ray. The slightly armadillo look to the metal housing was then carried into the design of the ship's interior. The gun is not designed to be held by a human - that's not the natural form of the Family of Blood species. It's meant to add another layer to the 'alien feel' of the technology."
