When will Doctor Who return?

Series Four, starring David Tennant, Catherine Tate and Freema Agyeman, can be seen in Spring 2008. We don't know specific dates at this stage.

America and Overseas

Sound problems: Loud music/Muffled monsters

Doctor Who has a more ambitious soundtrack than most programmes, which should perform brilliantly if your television's speakers are set to "normal" rather than "enhanced" or "spatial".

Will Rose Tyler return?

Yes, Rose will return for a bit at some point in Series Four.

Will Martha return

Yes. She's going to be paying a visit to Torchwood, but will hook up with the Doctor during the fourth series.

Are the Time Lords really dead?

The Doctor is the last of the Time Lords. We've no details of any other survivors, including Susan, The Rani, Romana or Chancellor Flavia. Please don't email us about this. Please.

What about the Master?

Don't count him out - despite refusing to regenerate at the end of Last Of The Time Lords, he's come back from worse scrapes than being shot and cremated! There are no current plans for his return, however.

What exactly happened in the Time War?

That's a story which hasn't yet been revealed.

How many regenerations does the Doctor have?

Now that his people are gone, who knows? Time Lords used to have 13 lives.

Sadly, no.

Can you tell me where Doctor Who is filmed?

I'm afraid we don't publicise filming locations in advance. Filming days are tough enough, and encouraging people to visit the set would make a difficult job impossible. The top priority has to be getting the best possible result on screen.

I missed an episode of Doctor Who. Can you send me a tape?

We can't do that for copyright and administrative reasons. Sorry. Doctor Who is available to buy on DVD, shown regularly on BBC Three, and various on demand Cable TV services.

I'm afraid autographs aren't available, and we don't supply contact addresses.

Can Doctor Who send me something for / appear at a charity event?

Charity appeals in Wales (where Doctor Who is filmed) are allocated by the Appeals Advisory Committee and the BBC is involved with Children in Need and Comic Relief. We cannot endorse particular charities.

What about DVDs?

Why aren't you covering DVDs so much in your News section these days?

BBC rules mean we should only cover merchandise when it is 'editorially justified', e.g. when there is an interesting interview quote from a magazine or something different from the norm. Announcing a DVD or its cover each month is considered more of a 'plug' for the product. We are working to produce more editorially led DVD news, so the situation should improve shortly.

Is there a Doctor Who exhibition?

You can download an officially-licensed ringtone from here.

Where can I get clothes I've seen in the series from?

David Tennant's costume was especially designed and made - except for the trainers! Most of Billie Piper and Freema Agyeman's outfits are also made by the BBC costume department. Christopher Eccleston's leather jacket was found in a second-hand clothes store. It's very old, and we don't know who made it, we're afraid.

Comic Maker

I live outside the UK and can't get the Comic Maker to work?

The Doctor Who Comic Maker is a public service online offering and has to conform to the BBC Licence Agreement.

Why hasn't my comic appeared or been denied?

You would have been sent an e-mail from the moderators stating why. You have broken one of the house rules. Please read them again before resubmitting a comic.

Can I redo a comic that has been denied?

Once it has been denied it is sucked into the vortex... forever!

Can I edit my comic after it has been posted?

Unfortunately, no. Once it is posted on the internet it is un-editable.

I want to keep my username when submitting a comic?

You will have to have it changed so it doesn't break the house rules. Please consider the house rules before changing your name. See another moderator team, i.e. the CBBC Message board moderators, to help you with this as we have had our ability stolen by the Daleks.

I have a complaint about a comic or it has broken the rules?

Click the alert button next to comic you believe to be inappropriate. Please include comments why. We take every complaint seriously and will review the comic again within 24 hours. We will delete the comic if has broken the rules.

My comic was uploaded, but why was my picture was removed/replaced?

Your comic was very good, although you picture broke the house rules. Please go back and read the rules before submitting another to avoid this happening again.

Will my comic be turned into an episode of Doctor Who?

No comic will be used for a future show. However, if a similar episode is created in the future, then it's just co-incidence and you're just a creative as Russell T Davies. Keep writing...

Will Russell T Davies or any of the other cast of Doctor Who read my comic?

Your comics will be available to be read by anyone all over the world and we can't guarantee Russell or any cast will read any, but they just might. There may also be future competitions for the best comic, where Russell and/or cast will be the judges. If so, you will be made well aware beforehand.

I hate how you watermark your desktop wallpaper!

We hated having to do it - we were so pleased to be able to put up hi-res desktop wallpaper. Sadly, pirate merchandise was immediately released using images from the site. Our choice was either to remove all images or watermark them. We tried to make it subtle. But it isn't pretty. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry.

I'm outside the UK - why can I only get narrowband video?

Currently, the BBC only sends broadband video to license payers within the UK.

I don't like RealPlayer or Windows Media. Why do you use it?

For rights reasons, the BBC is limited to offering only streaming video - through Real Player and Windows Media. We know neither is ideal, but no piece of software is. We may be offering streaming Flash video for Series Four.

Why can't I download the Doctor Who theme?

We're sorry. For music copyright reasons, we're unable to provide a downloadable version.

Why no Marco Polo photonovel?

The BBC doesn't hold the right to reproduce these prints. We looked into it, but it was beyond our budgets.
