Sontaran Invasion of York!
31st Oct 2011
The Gunpowder Plot is released later today and at the launch event in York, school children have been playing the new Adventure Game and giving us their opinions on the Doctor's latest exploits!
The event is taking place in the Merchant Adventurers' Hall in York, the town where Guy Fawkes was born in the Sixteenth Century. In fact, as the Hall was built between 1357 and 1361, Guy will probably have walked past the building many times as a child, little knowing that hundreds of years later it would house the launch of an epic game that brings to life the plot that guaranteed his place in history.
Aside from introducing the Adventure Game to hundreds of children, the event emphasized the educational aspect of The Gunpowder Plot. Teachers' Resource Packs are available to be used alongside the game and players find out more about London and life in 1605... Everything from the plague, street villains and public hangings to the conspiracies and civil unrest that made 1605 such a powder keg of a year!
Of course, as this is Doctor Who, there were monsters on hand to launch the Adventure Game, with a Sontaran threatening to derail the whole event before the school children were able to defeat him! But don't feel left out... You'll be able to face the Sontarans yourself when The Gunpowder Plot is released later today!
