The Gunpowder Plot: Available Today!
31st Oct 2011
The epic new Adventure Game, Doctor Who: The Gunpowder Plot is released later today. It's free to download in the UK and features Matt Smith, Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill. If you've played our previous Adventure Games and think you know what to expect, you're in for the kind of surprise that's usually reserved for the Doctor's companions when they step inside the TARDIS for the first time...
We caught up with one of The Gunpowder Plot's executive producers, Charles Cecil and asked him what was different about this game. He told us, 'The Gunpowder Plot has more adventure elements, and many more people to talk to than the earlier games - it is considerably larger. We have taken the fantastic background to the historical gunpowder plot - the intrigue, deception, and treason, and woven these elements into the Doctor Who universe. Perfect themes for an Adventure Game. Who would have guessed that the gunpowder plot was actually a carefully crafted scheme to allow a stranded alien race to escape from earth before they were hunted down by their deadliest foes? This adventure game is truly epic and will appeal both to experienced gamers and to people who are new to computer games.'
We spoke to Charles in York, the birthplace of Guy Fawkes, where many of the Doctor Who team are gathered to launch the game this afternoon. We'll be bringing you a report about that soon, plus some videos of the day's events.
The new Adventure Game is available exclusively on this site, later today, but if you can't wait, you can watch videos with its stars, including Ralf Little, Phil Daniels and CBBC's Chris Johnson, now!
