Gunpowder, Reason and Plot

The new Adventure Game plunges you back in time to 1605 and involves you in the notorious plan to blow up King James 1 and his Parliament. And to help you understand more about this explosive period in British history, the game designers, in collaboration with BBC Learning and BBC Knowledge have created a fantastic set of resources to guide you through the action.

For teachers and school kids, BBC Learning has created a series of Teachers' Resource Packs to help you explore Guy Fawkes' London and the history behind the Gunpowder Plot - you'll also find out about the reason why the plot was hatched and the dark truth about what happened to the conspirators. The game has been designed with learning elements built into the story from the very beginning - so you can discover more while you play! Historical references are woven throughout the game and the Teacher's Resource Packs contain activities and resources to help you learn more about that history. But be warned, sometimes some of the learning elements come with a dark and sinister presence...

There's something for several age groups, and although the downloadable packs are intended to be used in a school environment, there's plenty to explore and enjoy if you simply wish to learn more at home. There will be more content released soon, but you can find out more right now!

With video clips about Fawkes, Catesby, and the mysterious Monteagle Letter, which foiled the plot, this is a brilliant place to start your own learning adventure. So, when The Gunpowder Plot is released on 31 October you'll know your way around the tough city streets... probably a good thing as you may well have a bunch of Sontarans chasing you down them!
