Your Dream TARDIS (part one)

01st Sep 2010

We asked what you'd have in your dream TARDIS and whoa! We were inundated with brilliant ideas!

The third Adventure Game, TARDIS, revealed the Doctor's drawing room for the first time, which got us thinking... what would we put in a TARDIS if we could create one? Matt Smith and Karen Gillan shared their ideas, and you came up with some fantastic suggestions.

Lauren's idea combined fun with saving the universe. She declared, 'I would have a room with a huge trampoline for a floor, because everyone feels happier after they've bounced around for a bit,' adding, 'If any aliens were being evil they could come in the TARDIS and bounce, then cheer up and stop being evil and go home.'

Holly wanted a room with a tree in. Not just any old tree though, but, 'a tree that grew everything, because if I wanted money, food, drink or anything else you could possibly imagine, I could just go into the room and get it!!!'

Liam had similar thoughts, liking the idea of, 'A room where thoughts become almost reality... Or perhaps a picnic room with an ice cream van on hand and its own wishing well...' specifying that it would be, 'without any annoying wasps or ants.' Attention to detail - that's what we like!

Cinemas were a popular choice but Ashleigh wanted one with a twist: 'In my TARDIS, I'd have a cinema with unlimited films from the past, present and future. This is so I could watch any movie I wanted at any time, regardless of whether they are from the year 2010 or 4010.' Ashleigh also wanted some amazing gardens with comfy chairs in, courtesy of Angel Bob! We like your thinking!

Food was another popular requirement for your dream TARDIS, with Sarah wishing for, 'A conveyor belt that takes food around the TARDIS all the time, so you can just take what you want.' And if you're wondering why this was Sarah's number one requirement, she tells us, 'This is because I can never find anything I want to eat in the house!'

Emily liked the idea of having, 'An ice rink, escalators, a pet chicken, a hot tub and a barbecue', Alex's list included, '...a cinema, a leisure centre, a big flat screen TV, a bowling alley, a games room and lots of sonic screwdrivers' whereas David was more interested in 'a giant TV and video recorder, so I wouldn't miss an episode of Doctor Who while I am out fighting aliens!'

Six-year-old Alfie told us, 'My TARDIS would have rooms with secret passages and every room would be like a party room so we can have fun all day.' He also wanted a private lift adding 'everyone else would have to use the stairs.' What, even us?

One of the best things about your ideas was their variety. Some were huge, like Hannah, who wanted, 'A room from loads of different time periods like in The Girl in the Fireplace... An underwater city, an art gallery... [and] a room where it rains bubbles and the ground is made of sponge cake and the walls are made of jelly, so you can bounce around and eat and dance in bubbles.'

But some people had equally good ideas on a different scale. And from this category, it's Liam who gets the last word today. His dream TARDIS would have a kettle that always stays hot so there's always 'a cupper' ready straight away. Liam, we'll drink to that!

Huge thanks to everyone who's contacted us, and we'll be bringing you more of your dream TARDIS ideas soon!
