SHADO & Straker

Alex London writes about UFO

Gerry and Sylvia Anderson

Creator: Gerry and Sylvia Anderson

Encapsulated. Would you recommend this? why?

The story was actually rather sophisticated. They were optimistic about a future full of threat, including Ed Straker losing his wife and family in the struggle. Even the aliens were struggling for that same chance of survival. Peoples without the sugar coating of Star Trek.

Time and Space: When and where I first encountered it

I was about 7 or 8. It was shown on a Sunday morning. My brother and I hurried back from church to see it.

Recollection and revelations

Project UFO was fun to watch as a child, without denying the difficulties to be faced in life; a very adult theme.

Before this...

Dr Who

John Pertwee, the Brigadier and Bessie.

After This

Space 1999 and Star Wars

Larger budgets and less flawed futures.
