A Gardeners Nightmare!!!

Cow_Vindaloo writes about Day of the Triffids

John Wyndham

1951

Book: Day of the Triffids.
Author: John Wyndham

Encapsulated. Would you recommend this? why?

It's a good plot and an original idea. Alien plants and a helpless Earth.

Time and Space: When and where I first encountered it

My teacher read it to a class of 10 year olds and i was transfixed. Everyone else ignored it but I was really spooked!

Recollection and revelations

My parents were and still are really avid gardeners and when i was read this by my teacher at the age of 10 i was too scared to go near the greenhouse for weeks! i still remember the book sometimes when i go into the garden! The film version was brilliant!!

Before this...

The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde

I was so young a the time of reading Day of the Triffids that i hadn't read this book but i knew of the plot and liked the idea of having a double, I thought they would be a good play mate...(I was quite young!!!)

After This

Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy

The TV show reruns pointed me to this book. I love Sci Fi so this was perfect!!
