personal memories

EmmaLight writes about Blake's 7

Terry Nation

1978

TV: Blake's 7.
Creator: Terry Nation

Encapsulated. Would you recommend this? why?

Totally, Blake's 7 is brilliant, the characters are mostly likeable, even the badies, and you can't help but love the show!

Time and Space: When and where I first encountered it

My parents were huge fans and so I was told that we would be going to a Blake's 7 convention, so I made my mum let me watch all the episodes, I can't have been much older than 5. The convention was wonderful. I remember I drew a picture for Paul Darrow because Avon was my favourite character, and my mum went and gave him the picture, it was so embarassing but he seemed to like it, he even gave me a kiss on the cheek. My mum was so jealous. Then to top it off, later that day I won a prize in the costume competition (probably because I was so young) and Gareth Thomas gave me a medal and kiss. My mum was doubley jealous.

Recollection and revelations

I remember watching the first episode and the whole crime and justice system fascinated me, I couldn't believe that was happening (I know it wasn't, but it seemed real). It made me cynical about who was right and who was wrong in the world.

Before this...

Doctor Who

So I obviously wasn't around when it originally aired, but my parents were fans of it as well, so I was exposed to it from an extremely early age. Doctor Who will always be my favourite tv show because even though it is set on far off planets, it teaches important messages.

After This

Red Dwarf

As a child I loved Red Dwarf but now as a teenager I can get a lot more of the jokes and now I love the show even more.
