Futuristic Punk!

Neilo_1 writes about Blade Runner

Scott, Dick

1982

Film: Blade Runner.
Creator: Ridley Scott (Based on 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep' , by Philip K. Dick

Cyberpunky!

Encapsulated. Would you recommend this? why?

Yes! Bladerunner opened up a new, darker and sexier sci-fi world to cinema goers. The concepts were based in the not too distant future and are still plausible over 20 years later - something difficult too manage in our ever more advanced 'information age'.

Time and Space: When and where I first encountered it

1982. I was an avid eight year old schoolboy and sci-fi fan living in England and Wales!

Recollection and revelations

I had read 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep', the book which Bladerunner is adapted from. I was instantly attracted to the style and content of the film, which captured well, the 'feel' of the book.

Before this...

Star Wars

Star Wars was probably my initial exposure to the world of science fiction as a child.

After This

Neuromancer, by William Gibson

Start of the 'Sprawl Trilogy'. Furthered the Cyberpunk genre of sci-fi brilliantly!
