Time and Space: When and where I first encountered it

During that difficult teen period when Anime was just starting to get popular in the UK.

Recollection and revelations

It was the one film that came out of Japanese animation that everyone had to see, and like all good sci-fi it was a combined shift in style and culture shock as nothing like that had reached these shores before. Futuristic Tokyo giving Blade Runners Los Angeles a run for its money while giving enough breath taking action to make it a must rewatch movie. And I still do... It ignites a slow burning, but continuing interest in Japanese cinema above and beyond anime. Some of the best stuff I've seen comes from the Land of the Rising sun...
