In Depth

Star Trek: Voyager

Voyaging home under a captain with great hair and attitude.

The Star Trek franchise goes back-to-basics with its fourth series, which propels the Starship Voyager into the deep reaches of the Delta Quadrant and follows its epic journey back to Earth.

Despite being set in an uncharted alien galaxy, Voyager often struggled to go anywhere Star Trek had not gone before. It could seem laden with storylines and characters that had come straight out of The Next Generation.

But even as a 'greatest hits' package, the series isn't short of crowd pleasing science fiction adventure, stunning effects or feel-good human drama.

Kate Mulgrew as Captain Janeway confidently leads the voyage home (having replaced first choice star Geneviève Bujold). In addition, Robert Picardo's Doctor and Jeri Ryan's irresistable Borg bombshell Seven of Nine have no trouble filling the show's laughter and lust quotas respectively.

Work nominated by GracieLizzie.
