Let's do the Time Warp again!arrow icon

Only just recently. I had no idea what it was about and I was just blown away. I so badly want to see the theatre show now.

Hmm... Late teams. My best mate Mike showed it to me one night and he knew all the audience stuff.

It was in 1998 when I first saw the cult classic at home when I was ten years old.

In Depth

The Rocky Horror Picture Show

A nice young couple fall into the clutches of a sweet transvestite from Transexual, Transylvania.

This, the Queen Mother of cult movies is a campy, vampy, kinky musical send-up of old horror flicks that's surprisingly witty, and wickedly naughty.

The film (the word 'Picture' in the title was added for the celluloid version, with the screenplay based on O'Brien's original stage show) tells what happens when strait-laced Brad and Janet get stranded at the weird castle of Frank N Furter - Tim Curry wringing every ounce of deranged humour from his glam-rock role in a landmark performance. This frantic diversion cleverly satirises Frankenstein, haunted house mysteries, science-fiction cliche's and Carry On sexual identity confusion.

The score is justifiably famous - stand-out songs are 'Touch-a-Touch-a-Touch-Me' and 'Sweet Transvestite'. Stage performances and screenings are traditionally accompanied by enthusiastic audience participation, ideally in outrageous fancy-dress.

Work nominated by GracieLizzie.
