My first Biro pen

Gerry's memory of 10th January 1952

I attended a Secondary Modern School at Shoreham by Sea in Sussex. I was in the 4th year, it was 1952. At Xmas my father gave me a real Biro pen for Xmas,it was blue in colour . In the Spring term I proudly took my new Biro pen to School. The Master said no biros, several other boys were also disappointed, and not allowed to write with their new fangled pens with a minute ball tip, and self releasing ink. The Biro cost Dad about 7shillings and sixpence. About 37 pence today. Nowadays Everyone uses a biro pen, and the name of it's inventor Laslo Biro is almost forgotten.Written by Geraldz
