Beatles and Stones mania - 1963

jan4in's memory of 22nd May 1963 - 2nd November 1963

22 May, 1963

Today I could think of nothing else but going to see THE BEATLES in Ipswich this evening. Angela Wood and I missed the first bus but got the second and Jackie only just made it. Sat in the 3rd row upstairs. It was FABOULOUS!! Also performing:

ROY ORBISON; GERRY AND THE PACEMAKERS; David Macbeth; Louise Cordet; Erkey Grant; Ian Crawford; Tony Marsh; Terry Young Six.

2 November, 1963

We went to the Rolling Stones show at the Gaumont in Ipswich which was fab. In the interval we ran into the Stones as they were coming back from the pub and we got their autographs, first Brian Jones then Mick Jagger and I kissed Mick. Then Charlie Watts then Keith Richard and Keith also signed the inside of my arm “Love Keith Richard XXX” and I will not wash my arm until the ink wears off. Then Bill Wyman. Got autograph of one of the Flintstones too. Rolling Stones went back into the dressing room and Brian then Mick looked out of the window. Went to front of the Gaumont and saw 2 of the Rattles (German) and got their autographs. Loads of Mods wearing cuban heels.
