A place to share and explore memories
My one and only time at the Radio 1 Roadshow was in the Summer of 1987 when Mike Reid came to Berwick-Upon-Tweed. At the time I was working as a freelance for BBC local radio in Selkirk, Radio Tweed and went along armed with my portable reel to reel tape recorder, known as a UHER, to hopefully get a short interview with Mike. I was lucky ! After a bit of persuading someone (probably the producer) I was allowed to get to talk to Mike and record his thoughts about the roadshow on tape to be preserved forever. (I still have the tape) At the time Radio 1 was only on Medium Wave in our part of the Country and I remember when it came to newstime they switched the output over from what must have been a feed from the mixing desk, which was obviously good quality, to the off air signal which wasn't geat! Happy memories!
