sun-ray treatment

mary's memory of 1st January 1945 - 1st January 1948

I clearly remember having sub-ray treatment at a local hospital in Bristol. I was born in 1940 and am sure that I was at infant school at the time so would have been around 1945-1947. I as a puny child having been quite ill at the age of 5 with whooping cough & measles in quick succession. I loved going for the treatment & don't remember any unpleasant rubber smell from the goggles, only a lovely nurse who sat with us and read [or maybe made up] a story to keep us amused. I also had cod liver oil and malt at the time & my mother used to buy it to give me at home.
I was pleased to find reference to this treatment as so far, have found no-one among my circle of friends who had a similar experience.

I have lived in Cambridge for many years so maybe the kids were more healthy in East Anglia!
