Who runs Britain? That’s the question we’re asking in this year’s Today Programme Christmas poll. We’ve invited three ‘bloggers’ to follow the arguments. So all you need to do now is comment about what they've written...if you want!

I was half asleep when it was mentioned on the radio this morning - where do we find the material ?

I didn't know anybody was.

It's worse than I thought, folks!!

Host - please don't use these boards to puff the Today programme - it doesn't need it.

These ludicrous polls are brought out by Today because the producers cannot think of anything better to do. They are simply 'fillers' to pad out the programme. I find them absolutely childish.

Why doesn't Today fill in the blank bits of their programme by perhaps giving us news items from around the regions? But of course, that is anathema to Today which is London based, London thinking and a London biased programme.

The results of these polls matter not a jot. It's just like me or anybody else on these boards; we comment but nobody really takes notice - we are all a sad lot.

It's a rediculous question ... we live in a democracy, in a democracy the people rule!

It is therefore impossible for the poll to comes up with any other answer ... so what's the point!

I went to who runs Britain, then clicked to the right on the big square - then "add your comments" and got back here - I think I got lost somewhere!

Is the question misleading in itself....implying one person and all the time - as if we live in a monolithic society....?

Britain - a wild runaway horse running frantically downhill - on which is sitted a politician desparately trying to look as if the crazy direction the horse is going is the way they intended to go all along.

Beside them, another crazy rider hoping the first one gets knocked off - so that they too can appear to run the country!

What makes you think we live in a democracy? Because you get a vote every few years? Saddam's Iraq and the Soviet Union had that. There is a democratic element, but a democracy? I think not.

I get my meat from a supermarket doesn't that make them in charge?

Or is it that deity Santa Clause? Born in a 1950s coca coloa advert, ever willing to convince you of the merit of buying "just a little bit more than last year", worshipped in those temples of the consumerists called shopping malls and supermarkets, at the consumerist festival of "Xmas", where you can actually go and see the deity in most of his temples in the holy of holy: "Santa's Grotto".

Santa <==> Satan = Claws of satan!

Get rid of this pagan nonsense bring back real Christmas,

Yours in disgust

The one and only (unlike santa) Father Christmas

Darryl

I am not a political lackey, or a troll; you are, everybody knows it.

I see no magnificence in anything you or your totalitarian party do. The last thing I want is control, but you knew that anyway.

Perhaps you really don't know how the establishment works, it certainly looks that way. LOL

My vote has gone to Murdoch R. It's all about "hearts & minds" - and this despicable man has influenced the hearts & minds of far too many individuals - via his various media outlets - from all sections of our society from refuse collectors to political leaders.

PS Frettie - there's something for you in the Green Room.
