Monty's performance has been incredible.
I think he has been the main difference between the two teams.

Monty and Mahmood bowled well, but once again on several occasions Pakistan treated us with a masterclass of how to throw your wicket away. It sums up the series that our of the big three wickets we had to get (Yousuf, Younis & Inzy) one was a suicidal run out and another stumped charging down the wicket.
Not to belittle the England performance - they have had to bowl very well to take 20 wickets in this test. However Pakistan will look back on both the last five days and the Old Trafford test and feel that with a little more patience and application they might not have been on the recieving end of two heavy defeats.

Good performance England..well done.Monty has been impressive and I really hope that this will draw curtains to will Monty be replaced by Gilo...Gilo is a good overall player but not a spin bowler.Nice to see Sajid also joining the party. It will be interesting to see how he copes in an atmospehere outside England.Looking forward to 3-0 at Oval.

The best players on either side were Mohammed Yousuf and Younis Khan, two of the finest batsmen I have ever seen. Umar Gul also had a good game. But cricket is a team game, and Pakistan were let down by their other players, including the captain, who had a very poor game.
The Oval will probably be Inzy's last game in England, and I'd love to see him score a ton, provided that England still win, of course!

I think Australia will provide a more stiffer opposition.

It was a good performance from England to win like that however I cannot see england scoring so prolifically against Australia and I cannot see 4 australians running themselves out in a match.
It makes a change that its not england buckling under the pressure but I'm still cynical enough to believe that England don't have much hope this winter for the ashes.
I hope that I'm wrong but I just cannot see a series winning performance after the winter series in India and Pakistan. This proves to me that we can only win when we set get the help of both the toss and the pitch.

The only difference between the two sides were the despicable umpiring decisions that went against the tourists. Strauss (twice), Pietersen (twice), Collingwood and Cook were all stone wallers that were denied and the cost of these decisions was an additional 270 runs to England but more importantly gifted the series to England. We have all heard of the rub of the green but in real terms it was 7-0 to England as Pakistan did not get a single dubious decision in their favour.

i would also like to see inzamam score a ton on a proper wicket instead of living off his reputation on 300* pitches in pakistan.
i could average 51 if i played most of my cricket at faisalabad and multan.

I thought it was an excellent performance by a depleated team, whilst the bowlers certainly did a good job even those who did not take many wickets, we must not forget our centurians and importantly the captains innings in the second England innings was pivotal. Well done Andrew Strauss and Team.

Congrats to England for a thoroughly good performance. The thing that worries me though is the wicket-keeper position. Chris Read did a wonderful job behind the sticks and also with bat in hand but his technique in parts looked vulnerable. His front foot was almost redundant throughout the time he was at the crease and i am sure the australians' will expose this in the winter. Geraint Jones for me is a better Batsman, he has the full repertoire of strokes and must work on his shot selection at test level. Geraint's keeping was also very good so i hope and believe he does play in Brisbane having filled his boots with runs for Kent at the end of the season :D

Can England now do what Australia always does, and 'put this series away', by wining the last Test against Pakistan at the Oval? Australia is never content simply to coast to a series win, and look to win every match they play. Which is why they have won 11 out of their last 12 tests since losing the Ashes, and why they are still the No 1 Test side in the world.

Great bowling by both Sajid and Monty. Monty has long since lived up to his potential with the ball, and it was good to see Sajid take another 4-for. Plenty of fire and pace, allied with control and movement. Now, can Monty learn to bat...?

is that the same Australia who England beat in the Ashes? Why should England be worried about comparing themselves to a team they beat only 12 months ago? Anyway, despite Australia's dominance in the 90s they never closed out a series against England, and would always coast the last Test.

i was wondering how long it would be until i heard someone jump on the umpires. it must be wonderful to be a pakistan fan, when you win its because you're brilliant, when you lose its the umpires fault. i was watching the same match, they werent particularly hard done to. you get some, others you dont. the mark of a good team is to put bad decisions behind you and not to whine about it afterwards.
even the aussies managed to take defeat graciously....
