WOW...at last..looks like our middle and lower middle order are firing consistently! Geraint jones in a bit of form, Pietersen playing well and freddie seems to be hitting form to. Bell also is in form if vaughany fires we are looking good. and all this from our young, unexperienced middle order.

Add to that the batting form of harmy, giles and udal we seem to be looking okay.

Saying that how did we managed to get to 20-4.

When SImon Jones is back we'll have a pretty big hitting tail end. Him and harmy are capable or smacking everything!

Batting isn't doing badly at all.

Consistently getting 400s in the first innings - and not relying on the same one or two players to get these totals.

A couple of dodgy last day performances, but they'll always happen.

Now if we could just find a spinner....

middle order has been susceptible for criticism

we should really congratulate the england team for showing an exemplary form to snatch a draw in the second test from an almost winning position for the pakistani side. even in drawing this test match the england have shown they are still unbeatable and no.1 test team in the world currently,

if anything ganessa ... england have shown in this test series that they are NOT the best team in the world and that they ARE beatable.

i think at the moment, even though England took the Ashes, the team to look up to is still Australia. However, if England regain the Ashes in Australia, then I might agree with you.

Even though I'm English i don't agree at all.

We won't be the best side in the world until we win can games comfortably, and only lose when the other team plays exceptionally well. We also let the other side have a chance when they should be dead and buried (i.e. Edgbaston/Multan) and that is simply not good enough if you want to be the best side in the world.

I'm English, and i am damn glad we won the Ashes, suree, but at the moment, we are not the best. We need to keep playing strong cricket, 2007 is going to be a big year for us, we need to keep the momentum going. If we can do that and beat the Australian's in their back yard, then we are damn near the best, there's also the World Cup, remember?

Nice words, but 'yoyo' is now 'moyo', so be careful.

Are you kidding me- these guys nearly lost. Going for a draw is for losers. If not for the dropped catches in the first innings this game would also have been over long time ago.

Was a nice run for England but they are not up there with the best teams. They collapse too often and don't have a consistent/ balanced bowling attack.

u will be the best if u continue winning for 3 to 4 years like australia did,

u cant even beat pakistan how u can say that u r the best.any team can perform well on a good day.inzy is the best batsman in the world

If i were choosing to argue, i could point out that Pakistan has players that chuck the ball, that stamp on the pitch right before our innings, and if you're talking about a denied single, i believe he had been warned about running on the pitch, there is a law...on paper...in black and white.

England aren't the best, i'm one of the first who will admit that, but there is no need for other countries to be saying that we don't play fair when there is plenty of cause for that to be said about themselves.

No ur sooo right, im sorry for that last comment, coz when sum1 gets seen chucking theyre not allowed to play or when they get caught dancing on the wicket they get banned which is all fair enuf but when u get dodgy decisions against u and it all gets blown ova thats also fair!! i remember a certain ricky ponting being abit unhappy for a certain fielding incident which may be considered as against the spirit of the game? Dusnt really matter coz at the end of the day england are the best team in the world? yeh rite !!!!!LOL

The middle order is definitely our strongest part. But saying that, this proves that someone will be they and dig deep when others above haven't played well.

Dodgy decisions go either way, that's true. England get a few, i can remember a fair few that have gone against us over time. And seeing as you don't seem to be reading my posts...we're not the best. We are one of the best, i think that is fair to say, but i've said, in this thread, that to be called the best, we need to keep up the form from the Summer, we aren't, fair enough.

Look, i don't want to argue, this is a game, there have been bad decisions, deal with it, they could have gone against us too, and in other games, have.

Pathetic. We won the Ashes by the skin of our teeth. If Kasprowich and Lee had knocked a few more funs, it would have been 2-0 and goodnight charlie. We have to produce consistently and against a strong Pakistan line-up, we are struggling. We are playing two "spinners" that do not have the pace on these pitches and our batting is suspect. It only points one way.

Wot do you mean no1 in the world. First you have to beat every team in the world. You didn't do that in Multan & you just scraped a draw today. Your bowling attack was pounded all around the ground and your batsmen collapsed like dominos. So much for all the hype surrounding Harmison, Peitersen and Flintoff. In Pakistan, England look like a Sunday league team. With Shoiab & co cartwheeling stumps, Inzy scoring 50+ in every innings (can Vaughn do the same?) and a 21yr old opener smashing runs (So much for Strauss!!) Who are the favourites to win next week?
