Do you have a fave bass line. There are great lines in C.I.D by U.K. Subs, Friends by Shalamar, Under pressure by Queen and David Bowie and one of Led Zeps I think Dazed and Confused. Also some brilliant base work on My Generation by The Who.

"(I don't want to) Go to Chelsea" by Elvis Costello - brilliant

"Safe from Harm" Massive Attack - brooding, very cool!

"Dirty Day" by U2 - not really a bass line - but should have been, apparently the song was written in a rush so the record producer (Flood I think)didn't get to grips with the arrangement and Edge did it all on lead...

Obvious ones are "Billy Jean" by Wacko

"Crystal" by New Order...if you can stand Hookie taking over melody and the obligatory 'bass solo'

What 'ja think?

Stevie Wonder: I Wish - even Will Smith couldn't ruin it with his "wiki-wiki-wiki-Wild-Wild-West" treatment.

I'd like to put in a vote for Bowie's 'Ziggy Stardust' - one of the most melodic bass lines I have come across, and a very nice counterpoint to the vocal line.

"Badge" by Cream

Superb bass line from Jack Bruce, usual lead brilliance from Mr Clapton, guest guitar courtesy of George Harrison and Ginger Baker's drumming. What more can you ask for!

A song that many of you won't know - 'Junior's Eyes' by Black Sabbath, from their album 'Never Say Die!' Fabulous jazzy bluesy bass playing by the incomparable Terry Butler.
