What do people think will happen in this seasons Spar Mid Wales League?

The league kicks-off on August 20, and after two successive triumphs can Aber Reserves make it a hat-trick and retain the championship?

They lost some of their best players to Penrhyn's Cymru Alliance team, so that may affect them.

John Morris shaped Rhayader up, but the clubs under new management this season so how will they go?

You can find out more about the Spar Mid Wales League here: www.bbc.co.uk/wales/...

Why were newtown so bad last time? I think UWA will be the team to beat this year. Aber res won't be the force that they usually are. No doubt Llanrhaeadr will over-achieve again. I can't for the life of me understand why they end up at the top end of the table.

Why do you not include the Welsh League on the BBC website? This is the same standard football, but you have news of the SPAR Mid wales leagues.

i dont know why, but llanrhaeadr will be there again. they are not a brilliant team, but i think they are more physical than most and their pitch is ideally suited to their style of play. as for knighton, i think we will be battling against the drop this season. in pre season we havent looked half the team we were last year, and dare i say it...we look unfit!! i think the club is going downhill again. we have seen the likes of stuart jarvis walk away, ben bevan has followed suit, and if you ask me its only a matter of time before sam williams, dave watkins, dave alday, matty davies etc follow. the future looks dim.

I think you are right about the pitch at llanrhaeadr. They beat us up there once 10-1 but then we beat them when they came to us...

i dont know were you got your information about welshpool loosing key players and not strengthening there team but i think you may have been misinformed under neil and lloyd i am sure they will have a good season good luck lads. i am sure tehre will be a good battle again this year aber bound to be strong llanrhedr not everyones cup of tea but grahams got them well organised.
rayader may not be as strong this year now most of the high rollers have gone aber col after last season bound to have gained in confidence . knighton under achieved last year. prestiegne may be better now the head bangers have gone we may see them try to play footbal now. waterloo rovers what can i saY OTHER THAN THEY WILL BE DOWN THERE AGAIN battling it out for last place . berriew had a couple of good games towards the end and thought they were a good team .

The Welsh League is actually a higher standard as it is the southern equivalent of the Cymru Alliance and feeds directly into the League of Wales.

I think it's wide open this year. Saw team shot of Aber res today in the cambrian news and didn't recognise a single player. I predict a below half table finish for them. Got no idea who could win this year, UWA perhaps

it hurts to say ... but you cant rule out presteigne this season. they are going to challenge if they can keep their players. but to be honest its the other end of the table i am more concerned with!! i think we will be fighting berriew, four crosses, llany etc.

I think theres been a bit of upheaval in the clubs set up since Roger took over, but i think they're in much better shape than last season now. Hopefully some of the local youngsters they've been signing up will be be good enough to push for the first team.

im not sure where you are getting your information from knightonfan, but your comments seem to be aimed at unsettling players rather than in support. yes it is true that we have lost ben bevan, but apart from him all of last seasons players have resigned. as for their happiness at the club... well im sure they would not have signed had they not been 100% committed to bringing success to the club. we had a fantastic season last year, even if we did fall away at the end. we managed to finish above our rivals prestiegne and did this without paying the ridiculous wages they offer. this season will be more difficult than the last - following our success clubs will be more prepared when playing us, and no doubt will want to beat us. but the facts are that with virtually the same squad as last season i believe we can look forward to this campaign with great optimism. i wish people like you, who call themselves fans would get behind the team and offer support rather than criticism.

Just to send a few shockwaves around Mid Wales football Llandrindod Wells played Carno in the F.A.W Trophy last night(17/8/05) and came out comfortable 5-0 winners. Hope this is a sign of things to come for the season, we have a few new players in and have looked strong in pre-season.

Against a team playing their football in a league above us and have done alright in the spar over the last few years, we dominated the game and Carno never had look in.

In the Mid Wales (South), Willie Lindsay has signed for Builth, choosing them over some Spar League clubs. Costing them quite a few quid I hear. Lets see if they improve.

Presteigne 4-1 Newtown Reserves

Presteigne looked not a bad side but Newtown Reserves looked poor, another bottom of the table finish looks on the cards.
