i feel exactly the same way. i go to a school where you have to take an exam to get in and everyone expects you to do so well. i'm the youngest in my family, and my brothers did really well, so my parents are always mad at me if i don't do well.

i just try to revise loads and that pleases them, so then they know that i'm trying to do well.

Hii
my mum especially tells me that but the reason why parents tell you that is so you keep on doing your best and never give up.
because if they tell you wow everything is perfect you'll just laze round and not work hard but when your parents tell you that you could have done better it just makes you feel like working better so the reason why they tell you that is so that your not so over confident when it comes to sitting exams because sometimes being over confident with something is a bad thing winkeye

I certainly do. If i take a 5-minute revison break i'm "going to fail", if i only get a C on a mock exam I've "thrown my education away".

I know they mean well... but it's annoying!!

i agree. if i have like a 20 minute break, my mum goes sick at me saying that i am going to fail all my exams and that the amount of revision i do will just show when it comes to results say. she gets me proper annoyed but in a way, i know shes right, but its just like non-stop every night having a do at me. Only 2 more weeks 2 go though :D good luck everyone

hey
i'm 1 of the good girl types, you no always top grades, complete perfectionist.
thing is i cud get 100% in every exam and all my dad wud do is go- Oh.
he cudn't care less if i failed and made a mess of life. my mum died when i was 6 and she was cared.
but my dad doesn't, he's never proud no matter what i do.
count yourself lucky, i no they push u, but its only because they care. its better than them not caring at all.

My parents dont really bother me they just tell me that i need to revise more but i find that my grandad tells me off more because he wants me to do well but the best thing you can do is revise.

I have exactly the same problem. At the weekend they expect me to do 5 hours a day, this is not possible and i have told them that several times. I cant actually do that and I find I'm doing way more than my friends. I have a small attention span so I can do about 30 minutes at a time and then have a break. If i did 5 hours with breaks I would have to start at about 8 and be finished at 6. I really want to go out with my friends and have fun. Because of the long hours of revision they make me do I just go on the computer onto gossip sites, so I'm not revising at all, yeah I know its my fault.
But my dad asked me what he thinks I'm going to get. I said 1 c, about 3 b's and the rest a's. He said thats not good enough, and I'm getting really stressed. I have 3 exams left all tomorrow and I feel I'm not doing well enough. If this is what its like for gcses then I really dont want to do A levels. he says if I dont get all a's hes taking me out of my school and into a new one. This will make the problem worse as I'll be away from my friends and I'll want to make more so I wont concentrate on work. I hate this and get really upset when he says my expected results arent good enough. Hes constantly having a go and I really need him to stop. Its one more day and he said after exams I could do whatever. But recently hes changed his mind and saying I cant do alot as I havent worked hard enough. Its horrible and I feel I'm not good enough.
I cant deal with it but would really need some advice.
The only thing you can do is your best. If youve done that tell them, explain that youve worked hard, remind them of the times youve stayed home to revise instead of going out. If youve worked hard over the year tell them. if it gets worse tell your head of year, thats what I'm thinking of doing. their refusing me any breaks and I really cant cope.
I deal with it byt actually not revising but its not doing me any favours, if you find a way please tell me and vice versa, good luck xxx
