how would i do this one pls?

A one carat diamond used in a ring contained
1 X 10 ^22 carbon atoms.
What is the approximate mass of the diamond?

A) 0.1g
B) 0.2g
C) 1.0 g
D) 1.2 g

Hey There!

You need to use Avogadro’s constant to work this out.

So, one mole of carbon (12g) contains Avogadro’s number of atoms 6.02 x 10 atoms .

You need to use proportion to calculate the mass of carbon if there are 1x10 atoms.

6.02 x 10 atoms -------------> 12g of carbon
1x10 atoms ------------------> xg of carbon

Mass of carbon in x = 1x10 x 12g / 6.02 x 10
Mass of carbon in x = 0.2g
