If he does well for Wales, I'll become a fervent supporter. Let's hope.

At least the Blues, Ospreys and Dragons won't have to worry about losing players for internationals anymore.

Harsh....
...but like the man said...at least Dwayne will get the Summer off.

GOOD LUCK Gareth - really happy you made it this time. You are the best man for the job and am excited for you. I have every confidence in you to take our team forward and not shirk any responsibility!!! WELL DONE & BEST OF LUCK!!!
You have my 100% support.

I have been one of the ones who had my doubts, not of your abilities, but of your issues with the Union, and abilities to work with certain people.

The job is yours, and I wish you all the best, and hope you can prove what a top class coach you are. Come on Wales!

I just love his accent.

Gareth, I hope you have great success as the Welsh Coach.

I take it that is a wind up about his accent???

good luck G.Y.P.O you have talked the talk now lets hope you can walk the walk

Quoted message from

'Wind up about his accent'? - He's got the best accent in rugby, bar 'Sir' Bill McClaren, and oozes passion for the game
(bit like SCW / AR in that respect…not)

Go Gazza, Go Gazza, Go Gazza, Go Gazza, Go Go Go…!!!

Chuffed for him - a position he will treat with the effort, enthusiasm, dedication and undoubted talent he has to bring to bare.

Undoubtedly there's been a BIG political input into his appointment (EGM, VONC, 'publics favourite', face saving etc etc etc), plus the old 2-year-deal rearing it's ugly head again… but lets get behind him, and the team, for the next couple of years and see where this 'HMS Welsh Rugby' can take us all… and where we all can take HMS Welsh Rugby…

Well Done Gareth…

This is fun. A Welshman coaching the Welsh national side?! A daring experiment that the England kissball management might like to look at.

I've had my qualms about the man of the west and not sure I want the MS rechristened Stradey East, however all joking aside I wish him all the best and I believe he'll put his heart and soul into the job.

A sad loss for the Scarlets but good for Wales. I wonder who will replace Jenks at Stradey.
Nigel Davies promoted ????

why do so many people presume he'll have a massive Scarlets bias? If i was him i'd be far more eager to win every game than i would be to cosy up with my old club pals.

good luck to the man. hopefully he'll have the team performing a bit more 04/05 and a bit less 05/06.

Its going to be strange, everyone has been shouting for popham over Owen, now we are all going to shout Strady bias

I disagreed with his appointement then too.............

It wasnt rocket science to understand that he had been very limited with the scarlets and passed over for the job either....he was the peoples choice....

Good 'call back' PM - i wish we weren't doubting his abilities right now!
Apparantly, it's all about us not winning enough possession... so if the 'forward fairy' visits us between now and Sept we'll be ok. Otherwise, we had get a forwards coach on board right now who can do something about it right now!!
Swallow your pride GJ and beg D Young or even Ruddock to come across to help you and help the team!!

Like I said before Ruddock got the job of head coach, "Gareth Jenkins for head coach and Mike Ruddock for forwards/assistant coach."

This is something I've said consistently since before GJ entered the first interview process and subsequently got snubbed when MR was parachuted in.

Now is this coaching structure still achievable?

As far as I know the door is still open to MR.
