Wow! thanks for the link, Doc. I recognise that behaviour on this MB -- openly female & feminist posters here attract much more abuse than ant male posters. And it's abuse based on a misogynist world view of wiomen as inferior -- look at sim's postings, or Jerri's!! or Schpengle's, or any of the other troll-like nasties who pop up from time to time.

Not all male, posters, i hasten to add ...

Hell's Bells, Doc - it is much, much worse than I thought...yet I too recognise the vitriol and aggression in some male posters' responses to female posters on these boards. It really is horrible.

Thanks for posting that link -shocking though it is, it really should be seen by all of us.

And here's the website of the journalist who wrote it, Hessica Valenti.

Hmmm... now let's see, is the sexism shown towards women by men on the Woman's Hour message board worse than the sexism dished out to men here by women? I suppose some might argue that any response to this question is going to be perhaps a little on the subjective side! smiley

Oh flip, I need to fashion a response to Petal Jam about the new moderation procedures, but don't have time right now so it's going to have to be later this evening.

Toodlepip, all .. smiley

That Guardian article about US Feminist websites; I'm not sure about the relevance to the BBC WH board, but here is a relevant quote;

"The promise of the early internet," says Marwick, "was that it would liberate us from our bodies, and all the oppressions associated with prejudice. We'd communicate soul-to-soul, and get to know each other as people, rather than judging each other based on gender or race."

Quoted from this message

Well, 'soul-to-soul' indicates that clear motivations of posters ( i.e. the soul of what they are saying ) are legitimate subjects for discussion. There is no shortage of evidence that all posters at times post responses to 'soul-messages' on the WH board.

Personally, on the 'soul' issue, I find it amazing that feminists show such transparent invidiousness in their motivations, yet they seem to remain such 'closed books' to themselves. So amazing, that I do try at times to do a bit of 'épater les feministes'.... to show what an poisonous and ignorant bunch they are.

Well, sim, you've just demonstrated Valenti's point. Beautifully, if I may say so. Misogynist perfection in trying to shut women up!

Dunno Simon, but I have to say I can't remember any of us threatening to slit your throat or anally rape you, or did I just miss those posts?

No Red, just pointing out that you do emit the most awful predjudice, fuelled by invidiousness and occasional snobbery. Please do carry on posting! I have no desire to 'shut you up' at all! I mean, at your age this is probably the last chance you will get to add to your self-knowledge ...... so keep posting!

Pointless question, any evidence Sim? No yawn... Apology expected from you to Red then? No yawn...

Please try and climb a little higher up the evolutionary ladder - you will enjoy the view from up here.

The answer to all this anger men have is found in the spams. I've had so many offers for penis extensions since having a computer, that I have come to understand the insecurity these guys are labouring under. All these ceaseless willyworries must leave then hating women soooo much. It's their own fault of course, all that porn they subject themselves to with male porn stars soo well endowed that they can't hope to compete.

Self imposed neurosis.

yes, greyCallie. But think of it this way -- means they're running scared, and are threatened & defensive.

And that's not to mention the endless Viagra ads - aka vi*agra, v@agra, v%agra etc. to beat the spam filters.

Must be a lot of impotent men with very small appendages out there.....

Oh I get them in my 2 work e-mail adresses & my private e-mail postbox. I don't think it matters what your name is - spambots (the software that sends massive numbers of spams) don't read the names, they'tre just programmed to find e0-mail addresses.

But really, are there really adult men who believe all that stuff?? Crikey, poor loves ...
