they have not yet been officially announced but i read that it is believed it was 11.3 million with 53% of people watching the tele were tuned into the contest. For a country which does not apparently like the contest they are massive figures.

How would this realte to previous years?

I think that last year was about 10 million, but seeing as we have a population of 60 million, 11 million isn't a good figure at all!

That's because the ESC is a bit like a cream cake..... You know there's nothing of any value in it, you know it's going to make you feel ever so slightly sick and you know you're going to wish you hadn't indulged for days afterwards.. but that doesn't stop it being just a little bit compelling.

11 million is brilliant. No shows other than coronation street and eastenders get figures anywhere near that

11 million is a fantastic figue! So what if there are 60 million people in the country, that doesn't mean they all enjoy the contest. That doesn't mean they were all in on Saturday night and watching TV. That doesn't mean the entire population owns a television. Usually a primetime drama will get an average of about 6 million so 11 million is exceptional. I believe last year's average was 8 million BTW.
