Quite easy to explain, it's a further part of the Beeb's plans to big up Chris Evans as the new breakfast time host. Someone feels that Moira will connect with the TOGs and so help to keep them listening.

Which were the thoughts behind my OP!

Drivetime will be great with Simon Mayo. Just take the lower key trailer, mentioning the previous incumbents. Shows the difference between the 2 presenters don't you think?

I would guess that Moira Stewart would do the whole of the morning shift. After all, that's what 'Boggy' Marsh & 'Deadly' did, they weren't just on Sir Terry's show. Assuming that is the case then I will have to hear Moira on either Sarah's or Ken's show. If not then questions should be asked as to why the whole newscaster shift patten should be changed just to accomodate one of the 'ginger whinger's' whims for just 2 hours a day.

Why not give Chris a chance? I and many other TOGs I know, are looking forward to his show. Terry was brilliant and a hard act to follow, but don't shoot Chris down before you listen to at least a couple of times.

Maccafan - To mis-quote one of Wogan's phrases ...

You're pushing against a closed door there.

I'm not looking forward to the squawking and shouting of Chris Evans, but getting Moira for the news is a good move I think. Lovely voice and seems like a very warm personality.

I do hope they aren't putting Deadly, Charlie and Boggy out to grass though, Radio 2 wouldn't quite feel like Radio 2 without them.

Why not give Chris a chance?

He's had two chances at a breakfast show and blew them both out of the water. I'd never get even a second chance at summat!

I think Moira Stewart is an excellent choice for the new Breakfast Show. After the snooze fest of the last three weeks, I am so looking forward to Monday.

"Why does Chris Evans Breakfast Show require its own specific newsreader?"

Because this is a good way of easing Moira S into Radio so that when CE fails (because he will), she can step up to Presenter.
