Today Radio 1 launches the Bare All 06 safer sex campaign.

What was the most ridiculous thing you were were told about sex when you were growing up?

I heard a few howlers in my time...

1. You can't get pregnant on boats.
2. You can re-use condoms.
3. If you don't have a condom, you can use an empty crisp packet.

Tell us your own howlers....

My phys ed teacher in school told us that boys who masturbate have hairy palms! Then he thought it hilarious to see how many boys in the classroom snuck a quick look at their hands!

Here's a complicated one...

I heard that people sometimes use the excuse 'I'm allergic to condoms'.

I then heard that this is absolute rubbish, no one is allergic to condoms.

Then came back to the real world where some people are and it is a problem for them, one that most people laugh at because they think they're using a pathetic excuse.

So am I which is why it annoys me when people use it as an example of pathetic excuses!

It also irritates me that you have to buy special ones, they're twice the price and no where gives them away free.

You can get pregnant by sitting on a toilet seat previously used by a guy.

yep sure we did, but so what.. people have sex a lot. many (but sure, not most) have STIs. many of those don't know it. many of their partners won't either..

you're not safe when you start having sex if you don't know what's likely to put you or others at risk.

sorry for the repetition - but there are so many takes on it that I think it's worth us repeating ourselves sometimes
