"Top 100 polls" - is there a more depressingly pointless and futile modern phenomena?

Vote now!

I think that there are a few top Dj's around at the moment. As i go out every saturday in and around manchester i would like to put my top three on here now. All these Dj's are mainly funky house;
1 Bini (in my opinion the best female dj in the country. She getts the crowd goin and there is now one better to drop a dirty electro track than Bini)
2 Jon Fitz (after see in him play for the last 3 years he desreves everything comin his way at the moment, definatly this country's next super star Dj move over Judge Jules Fitzy has arived!!!)
3 Petra Foy (watchin this man mix you cannot help but stear at the mixer to me no-one cuts a track as good as him, no wounder Carl Cox is biggin him up!!!)

That poll is a joke, it's the same superstar DJs who always get all the votes. I think Tiesto has been in the top 3 for the last ten years or something, which is testement to it's lack of credibility. Some of the best DJs I've seen are unknown residents who get the crowd going week-in-week-out without demanding ridiculous fees and special VIP treatment.

i personally hate tiesto`s music but no-one can deny his crowd pulling ability which is what the poll is mainly representing, the hip hop turntablists like Q-bert and Cut Chemist are undoubtably the best at what they do, but they don`t have the exposure with the majority and are therefore unrecognised.

LOL if we're talking nicknames what about 'Oooh' Gary Davies. Or a bit more up to the minute Trevor 'Madhatter' Nelson as he used to be known on Kiss...

Are we talking radio or clubbing? If it's radio what about Annie Mac?

I don't think you can argue with the top 100 poll, just because the big names make it to the top. I don't rate some of the big names either but we need to promote the lesser known dj's and make sure they make it to the top.

As for the top djs Above & Beyond & Eddie Halliwell for me. Above & Beyond have taken trance to a new level in the past couple of years. Eddie's mixing for me is still top class. Interesting to hear Lange and Petra Foy mentioned. Only seen both of them once but they were both pretty class.

Paul Woolford's got to be one of them...

Robbie Rivera also possibly after his excellent set at Amnesia for his Juicy Music parties....ok not a great justification perhaps.

And Danny Tenaglia....still doing what he loves best and does it show? Yes!

All from the top of my head....may think of more serious choices at some point.

there is a brave few dj's that r very under rated
personaly i think AGNELI & NELSON should be in the top 5 or at least top ten any time i see them they r rockin. dj's that i know will be in the top 5 will be GABRIEL AND DRESDEN anytime i hear them they r superb . i think EDDIE HALIWELL should be rite up the charts this year he has bean fantastic any time i have heard him
for the number 1 spot i think it should be MARCO V with out a doubt but as usual it will prob be PVD or TIESTO personally i dont think either of them deserve it there is another dj to look out for in the coming years MANDY RIED i dont think she'll be at the top end this year but she is one for the future

as much as i rate "top" dj's like lashes, above & beyond, fergie and the like, i don't see why people are so concerned with a top 100 dj poll. its the residents that keep the crowd coming back week in week out. i have heard lots of residents that are better than "top" dj's.....

therefore i refuse to vote

The poll is obviously a joke, and you can't really take the results seriously.

However, it can help the career of more underground djs (and the music they play) if they unexpectedly do alright.

I don't vote in it, but if I did that would be the reason.

hi mr steve,
surprised not to see noel edmonds on your list or simon bates or oooh gary davies, but i think annie nightingale deserves a special mention who remarkably found dance music at the ripe old age of 257 years old!
