Have to say, the new sidebar for end credits is a reasonably good change, keeping up to date with what's coming up on the BBC stations and not shrinking the programme like the previous "credit squeeze", but I do have some reservations, particularly in 4:3 formatted shows.
On Wednesday 24th July, I was watching 'American Dad!' on BBC Three, at the end credits of the first episode, the side bar was only cut off, and the programme was in a 4:3 formatted show, and not in HD.

I think you may just have to live with it I'm afraid. It's taken us this long to get the BBC to stop credit shrinking.
