    I used to really like " The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face "...by Kirsty McColl's dad Euen. Now I will be quite happy not to hear it again this decade.
    Is there any evidence that continuous and constantly repeated trailers increase viewing figures ?

    .....probably not....but that irrelevance wont stop them...and on another point....why can the beeb always manage to start the main news to the second....whilst every other program's starting time is in the lap of the gods.....

    Never mind how many times it has been shown, what on earth made them choose that piece of music? it just doesn't fit in with the stunning imagery.

    The Beeb obviously thinks so but I'm fully with you, I get so tired of seeing the same trailer over and over and over. As I type this, there's the trailer for "Death in Paradise" once again! It's not going to make me watch it, quite the opposite in fact.

    I think part of the problem might be that, with different viewing habits, one person's "seen the trailer too many times" will be another's "never heard it was on". It doesn't seem like an easy balance to me.

    I think part of the problem might be that, with different viewing habits, one person's "seen the trailer too many times" will be another's "never heard it was on". It doesn't seem like an easy balance to me.  Great point, I often read, on here, about annoying trailers that I have yet to see and I watch quite a bit of TV.

    No idea but this morning we switched on around 8.30 for some news and weather and there were 3 trails, 2 of which were repeated before I signed in to look for a thread to comment about them.

    We find then soooooo annoying and they actually discourage us from watching anything mentioned. I paid attention to the last 2, to see what they were advertising - Radio 6 and BBC 2.

    Nothing will persuade me to listen to R6 or to watch anything with Alex P, Benedict Cummerbund, Brian Cox etc. Sick of seeing them.

    I have no intention of listening to digital radio, far less telling everyone about it.
    I'm absolutely fed up of the ads, they aren't even programme trails but are repeated as frequently. Bring back the potter's wheel!!

    I don't mind trailers about new programmes coming up in the next week or so but I rarely see them.

    The reason for this, ironically, is the gimmick for trailing the next episode of nearly everything that comes in episodes at the end of the current episode. As soon as "next time" appears on the screen I switch over to another channel.

    I don't want to know what comes next. If I've watched the current episode through to the end and enjoyed it, I'll probably watch the next one. If anything I am less likely to watch it if it has been spoiled by a sneak preview of the best bits.

    It's bad enough that they do this in documentaries but previews of dramas - even mystery dramas - is just ridiculous. It destroys both the mystery and the drama.

    If I've watched the current episode through to the end and enjoyed it, I'll probably watch the next one.

    I've come to the conclusion that I watch far less TV than other people. I've never seen this trailer and had to go to DigitalSpy to see the Sue Perkins trailer.

    I rather think Roberta Flack's recording is also what makes it special rather than just James Henry Miller having written it.

There's a trail of some kind at every programme break and more  No it's because I record most of what I watch and when the progamme ends I switch the recording off therefore missing any trails usually. I don't watch a huge amount of TV though as there are other things to do.
