    Dear BBC,

Having watched the trailer for Africa, I am disappointed to see that it is not in 3D.

If ever there was a program that screams 3D this would be it. WHY?

Are we going to any 3D on the BBC on a regular basis, instead just the odd program?

    My regards,

    John P Hayes

The post is about HD and the making of the programme. The other thread is more about the programme content.

    I wouldn't call it a duplicate thread.

This is one of the reasons I began the discussion yesterday.

but as a) we do not use stereopsis very much - occlusion and relative size are for more used
    b) that basic optics shows that stereopsis does not exist beyond about 15m (for human visual acuity and interocular distance ....)

There is little S3D suitable material in the trailer (and I would have thought on Traditional "African" shots.....) But UHD2 would be very nice ....

This post is about 3D not HD. The programme is showing in HD and is excellent.
It would be imractical, and in part impossible to produce this four year project in 3D and it would probably actually spoil what is a true delight.
