On BBC1 HD, why is Merlin only broadcast in stereo whereas Strictly Come Dancing gets the benefit of full 5.1 channel audio?
Surely the sound effects in a dramatic programme of fantasy and magic would benefit far more than a dance contest from the full 5.1 surround sound experience.

Budget probably ... Post production in 5.1is time consuming .But live is not that great cost if you have a consistent rig - like football or SCD.
