Trying to identify music from a programme?
Post your query here and other board members will try to help you identify the music. To help them out, please include
A link to the programme on iPlayer (do a search in iPlayer for the programme) and the exact time that the music appears on the programme (look at the minutes seconds in on iPlayer to get the exact time it starts).
If you have a phone that runs apps there are several free apps that you can download that identify music - Shazam and Soundhog are two that I have on my phone, there may well be others, so try to identify it yourself first if you can.
Remember, this is what other posters will need to be able to help you!

After many years of watching is there a title & artist for the opening music to Homes Under The Hammer
Music is played after presenters Martin &n Lucy offer their opening comments then runs for about 1 minute.
Rest of music in show is usually linked to comments about properties bein sold.
Tried searching usual music sights but nothing on there.
Thanks

No matches as far as I can see - unless anyone recognises the music from elsewhere? I tried Shazam and Soundhound.
It's probably a bit of music that was written for the programme - it's often cheaper to do that than buy music off the shelf.

What is the music on BBC's Super Smart Animals part 2 at 39.11 please?
I've heard it before on other BBC programmes/trailers.

Hi Spudatus
Sorry I tried, the music is too much in the background for me to identify it.

Thanks for trying Peta; one day I'll find out what this track of music is; the BBC have used it quite regularly for several months; I think it's great and would love to hear more of it.
I'll keep searching; unfortunately, I can't find anyone at the BBC who has been able to assist so far.

I've tried the apps with no joy, too much talking over the top.
Perhaps someone here will recognise it for you?

It could just be a bit of custom written background music with no real title, sometimes that's the case.
Good luck!

Peta, shouldn't this thread be what some Boards call a "Sticky"? If no-one adds to it in a day or two it will be lost. A Sticky stays at the top of the messages so is easy to find.

It was a sticky for a couple of days. I created the thread because a member of the board suggested it, but then found that I was the only person helping!
I'm not here hosting full time in the day (or in the evening or at the weekend), so I thought it might be better to let it flow, because otherwise people might get the impression that a BBC staff person was to hand all the time to help, and that's not the case.
If it picks up and other people help I might re-stick it!

The composers are on the end credits: Michael Burdett and Richard Cottle. As so often now, this is original must for the series.

The composers are on the end credits: Raphael Ravenscroft and Gareth Cousins. "Original" music for the series. You think you heave heard it before ? I think the composers are using a style that sounds familiar but isn't.

Peta Hi,
I know you have tried to help me with this one, but now there is a dedicated post, perhaps someone out there can shine a light on this one.
Flog It was showing a repeat from Ely Cathedral on Saturday 21 Jan. Paul Martin was doing a piece about the cathedral especially concerning a letter found from a young man to his beau. Can anyone tell me what was the music used? The BBC use this piece a lot (a bit like they use Elbow's music) so perhaps someone has heard it from another programme or film.
Although this particular episode is not showing on iplayer at the moment. I have done a bit more digging and I think its Series 8, episode 62 of 75 somewhere in the middle. Thats as close as I can get.
This bit of music is driving me mad. Keep hearing it, can't nail down a title for it. This is now becoming the quest for the holy grail.
Link to this forum: What was the music featured on programme x?
Suggest you try and find it on another programme if it's used quite a bit and post here again. Almost impossible to get it without hearing it.

The One Show
www.bbc.co.uk/iplaye...
Starts 19 mins 21 seconds in and plays for a couple of minutes across the segment
Can anyone help with this? It's a classical track i recall from childhood and I've been trying to find out it's name or composer ever since...was pleased when it came up on the one show yesterday as hopefully someone may know it.
Thanks

Hi,
I'm really curious about some music featured in 'to grow a planet' episode 2 'the power of flowers' starting at about 1.15 and really kicking in at 1.20. Strummy guitars and swelling vocal non-word vocals.
Probably well known to all but me who no longer listens to R1.

Don't recognise that one. Something for everyone on this thread to bear in mind is that with royalty payments being quite high for well known artists/tracks a lot of video production companies will use stock footage and stock audio tracks that might sound like something familiar but has been supplied as a 30 second clip for a relatively low fee.
A lot of competent musicians who you might think have disappeared from the radar might be creating music tracks and supplying them to these companies as a form of income. A popular one is Audio Network (others are available). And old rockers like Rod Argent and Russ Ballard could be providing these sound tracks.
You will therefore not find the track you like on a commercially available format.

Could you please help me with finding the origins of this music - I have heard it before and it is quite frankly doing my head in that I can't name it.
The music is in the background of the 3rd episode of the BBC 2 documentary Protecting Our Children, and it comes in 31 mins and 10 seconds in then ends about 32 minutes in. The link is below. I've tries to shazam it a couple of times but have had no joy.
www.bbc.co.uk/iplaye...
I can hear how the track progresses in my head and a male vocal (which is quite low comes in). I seem to think it's probably by a Californian based band but I can't be sure.
Help please!

Music needed!
I'm looking to find out the name of the song used in Last nights finale Hustle episode:
www.bbc.co.uk/iplaye...
It's the song used at the very beginning and again at the end while the cast is on the roof trying to escape the mark and his entourage.
Music starts: at zero and runs for around 1 minute 20 seconds.
I tired using Shazam, but it didn't work.
- I would be appreciative if someone could put me out of my misery on this one.

The bit I'm looking for is from Britain's Best Drives. It's from the episode set in Scotland and it's just after the motor-bikers' sequence, when Richard Wilson is being given an analysis of why Scottish scenery is so soothing by a psychologist.

The piece you are looking for is Riptide by Robert Palmer.
Probably why he said "Rock on Robert."

Thanks Taj, that's it!
I first heard this (without the vocals) about 12 years ago and just found it mesmerising. I tried at the time to find out who it was by, but without the internet I had no joy. I never forgot it and then to hear it again on Saturday morning brought the memories flooding back and I decided I just had to try harder!
Thank you so much.

Might I suggest Youtube and add music to the search e.g. Top Gear + Music
How I found the Rob D music that features on the show a few times - notably the car vs bobsled film in Norway - amazing tune.

I am from the Netherlands so I can't watch the BBC iplayer on my computer or tablet. So I can't watch the programme again to verify.
I would like to know the exact title/performer/writer from a song played in the programma Homes under the Hammer.
So
Name of the programme: Homes under the Hammer, Friday February 17, 2012
Link to the programme: www.bbc.co.uk/progra...
I don't know the exact time when the music started, but it was played when they returned back to a 70-ties house to was refurbished. I believe the title of the song was "March of the Day", but I don't know for sure. It was the second house on the programme.
Thank you very much for your information.

Can anyone please advise the title/composer of the 'nautical' music briefly played once or twice during the subject programme?
Alternatively, is a list of credits available from which I can research further?
Thank you.

Hi,
This might be a bit of a difficult one, it's the music piece used for the BBC Three ad for Sun, Sex and Suspicious Parents. It's starts off as a piano solo and grows.
Because it's an ad, I can't link to anything on iPlayer. I did try it with Shazam but it didn't know, might have been too much voice over.
The ad is show on BBC Three quite a bit but will probably stop airing as soon as the season ends.
Thanks
