Even more sedentary pastimes such as chess, backgammon or Scrabble could be considered. I hope the head of sport is listening!

Chess!!
The BBC DID once cover chess, usually on shows with expert Bill Hartston. Also bridge. I think both were usually hosted by Jeremy James.
I think the BBC should cover archery. It's great to watch and they could really boost the sport.

Yes, chess was quite often on BBC2. Coverage of world championship matches as well as the BBC's own 'Master Game' tournaments.
In one historic 'Master Game' the British No.1, Tony Miles, beat the then world champion Anatoly Karpov in a brilliant game - only for it not to be broadcast when BBC technicians went on strike.
I remember bridge being on too - Zia Mahmood seemed to win everything, but Omar Sharif was also one of the contestants.
I suppose I can ask here after having two posts hidden without ANY flippin' explanation.
Surely if someone clicks to hide a post, they can add a post to give a reason.
I noticed that the Football League show didn't appear this week and there were/are two Championship play off games. There was a show for the lower league ones, so why not this week?
I also notice there is an upcoming highlights program for the finals, so why was this week dumped?

The bridge programme I most remember involved a challenge between the UK and US, featuring Nicola (then) Gardner, Pat Davies, Matthew Granovetter, Claude Rodrigue, and a few others. I think the programme was called Grand Slam. I also recall a later one with Zia Mahmood and Tony Forrester, and another one on Channel Four with the then married or divorced Nicola Smith.
Why these names stay in my mind all these years later I don't know!
What was most bizarre about the bridge and chess programmes was that the players' "thoughts" were recorded and played over them pondering the board or hand, eg (this is genuine) "Claude Rodrigue's pass there was forcing. I'm not entitled to pass"
This show

Is a BBC show, but wasn't shown this week, even though there was a Championship play off.
Can I politely ask why?
And if for whatever reason, this has broken the 'house rules' please let me know in what manner I have broken them.
I'm guessing the BBC didn't have the rights to the Playoffs.

Given that they have lost the rights to show so much major sport, why don't the BBC start promoting some different, minority interest sports? It's worked wonders for triathlon, but personally I'd like to see more exposure for sports such as basketball, ice hockey, BMX racing, water skiing & American pool. (In fact the list is endless.) Even more sedentary pastimes such as chess, backgammon or Scrabble could be considered. I hope the head of sport is listening!
or cricket.
Me too, but I have asked that, and they did show league one etc.
I'm just stumped why such a simple question/post keeps getting hidden for no real apparent reason.
And it's on next week.
I must stand in the naughty corner it seems.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHHH
What Have I done??????????????????????
You've been rude? Or off-topic?
You've been rude? Or off-topic?
Asking pertinent (and polite) questions regarding a BBC program, which was shown previously, and this week not, but is on next week.
I might not mind, but they have hidden them, without any explanation.
Dunno what I've done wrong!
I suspect answers are here....

They're not and every time I try to explain, it gets modded !
BBC program which was shown in previous weeks
Not shown this weekend - I asked why
Got modded, each time.
Come on Peta or whoever it is who is dumping them, why not post a reason?
It says "Please note that posts about moderation are off-topic for the board and will be removed - as moderation queries on the board often lead to the re-posting of removed content and/or disputes."
Also says "If you'd like to talk about any of the BBCs Sports programmes, including Match of the Day and F1, please post to the general BBC Sports Programming discussion,"

Why has BBC Breakfast started using people who aren't sports journalists to do the sports item? This morning, the commentator said words to the effect of "Wigan's chances of staying up are reduced if they don't beat Arsenal tonight". Reduced? Should Wigan lose they're down, Should they draw, they will only be able to earn 39 points maximum, the same number of points that Sunderland already has with one game left. Given that Wigan presently has a goal difference of -23 and Sunderland has -12, I would suggest that Wigan are down if they don't win tonight.
I also noticed that they had to bring in a real sports journalist to comment about managerial changes at Man City.
Liking sport a bit seems to be the qualification these days.

I don't know who did the sport, but I notice Sally Nugent was in Susanna Reid's place.
Sigh...here we go again.
Has anyone seen anything anywhere to say what time BBC's red button service will be carrying the Diamond League athletics event in Shanghai?

Didn't get the reason for your sigh?
I'm told that if you look in the Radio Times just before the start of the day there's a box which tells you which sport is on which channel.
I watched Match of the Day on Saturday last week. My God the pundits were a breath of fresh air. The host, Dan Walker, got Dion Dublin and Robbie Savage to debate something with each other rather than mindlessly agree with each other. Considering Alan Hansen may be leaving at the end of next season, maybe the BBC should look towards one of them.

If the Sauchie sofa-squatter does take his leave, I hope he can convince Mark 'Droopy' Lawrenson to socialise with him of a Saturday evening.
Can I suggest to all they go to the pinned message re Danny Cohen & ask why live sport is so low down the BBC's list of priorities?
Without wishing to start an argument, there will be plenty of people who may suggest that live sport gets too much priority. Especially in respect of over-runs.
Personally I understand why an event is allowed to finish, however the choice of programmes scheduled in the sacrificial slot can lead to irritation.

It's the strange obsession with sport being 'live' that causes so many problems.
If there was a two hour delay, that might alleviate a lot of scheduling problems.

What an odd post?
Watching non live sport is absolutely pointless.
Anyway I really don't know why the BBC bother, just leave it to Sky, they do it so well.

Viewing figures when the BBC covers live sport suggest that there is a big audience for it, the sort of figures Sky can only dream of. When BBC and ITV share coverage of a major football final, BBC's ratings are usually at least three times higher than ITV's.
The good job the BBC did of the Olympics - BAFTA farrago notwithstanding - seems to have been forgotten. There are also those of us who will never pay for Sky, but we do pay the licence fee, just like those who moan about sport, despite the fact that there is less of it on the BBC now.

I was sorry to hear Gabby Logan say that this afternoon would be her last time on 'Final Score' - that's a shame, I think she's really good on that.
Well done Arsenal, by the way.

Yes, it's a shame she's finished, she was very good and had a good repoire with Garth, Robbie and Martin - I wonder what she's going to do next?
