I live in Melbourne, Australia and would like to convey my disappointment at the decision to cancel the excellent comedy series "Whites" written by Matt King and Oliver Lansley. This show has so much potential, the cast is world class, and the writing is intelligent, funny and has great appeal to a wide cross-section of the population. The series has just begun screening in Australia on a weekly basis from 17 March on ABC1, and has received a fantastic response by both media reviewers and the viewing public alike, with very healthy first episode TV viewer rating numbers. The writers and cast already have existing fans here who will be deeply disappointed that the series will not be returning at the end of its run. I urge you to reconsider your decision, as I am sure the writers will have little trouble in taking their production to another network, or indeed, another country.

Take a show with the following attributes:
    Popular cast
    First rate writing
    strong fan base
    good ratings AND
    international appeal
and then cancel it after only one series? Really, BBC! Why DID you cancel "Whites"? Please bring it back to our screens for a second series, at least.

Whites is one of the very few contemporary comedies that represent the British working class in a way which doesn't mock, stereotype or patronize. It also explores male relationships - the one between Roland and Bib is real, and complex - without resorting to the 'bromance' cliche. I believe the BBC should change its mind and recommission the series.
And no, I don't work on the programme!

All first time posters. What a surprise smiley - erm

Alan Davies must be desperate these days. What with his twitter campaign and now this feeble attempt to get his pants show back.

Stop flogging a dead horse mate. Bit like watching your mule of a show.

I agree, it's a very bad decision to axe Whites and I still find it hard to believe.

However, I'm sure the BBC has endless money for cookery, DIY, Strictly, gardening, antique and house buying shows. smiley - erm
