iplayer radio........love it!. I go back to the days of valve sets but jumped on the digital bandwagon via BBC7 (now 4extra) and find this very exciting...so easy to use. Thanks BBC!.

Until about a week ago I was able to watch bbc iplayer via my VPN over 3G very successfully - yes, I do pay my TV licence! - but since the launch of the 'new' iplayer it has been impossible. Why is this? I keep getting messages to the effect I need to update Flash or Flash is not supported etc. I have downloaded the new iplayer but also get a message which says iplayer is not currently supported by my device...PLEASE can someone explain what has happened / is happening? I will be extremely grateful! Many thanks! Alistair Pugh, Bahrain.

Hi alistairpugh, I'm the BBC host of the board.

Please read the BBC FAQ about using iPlayer, which you will find here

    iplayerhelp.external...

You will need to download Flash, in order to be able to use iPlayer on your computer.

IPlayer isn't generally available for watching programmes abroad, please see this FAQ for details

Rights agreements mean that BBC iPlayer television programmes are only available to users in the UK. However, if you have previously downloaded a programme onto your laptop or portable hard drive from BBC iPlayer while in the UK, you can then watch it anywhere in the world. (Pre-booked programmes are slightly different see here for more information).

    Pete

You should be ashamed of yourself. Mentioning the dreaded R word on the message boards - isnt that an offense punishable by God knows what awful torture

Hopefully you will be allowed a padded chair in naughty corner

Will the current iPlayer radio part be kept on iPlayer as everytime iPlayer or anything about it is updated it gets harder to find anything new or come across anything that one might want to listen to.

As per usual people at the BBC are doing the Tories job for them...i.e. making people use the BBC less (I haven;t used the BBC website for 4years or so) and therefore making the excuse of privatising it even better.

You're made 11,003 postings to the BBC website too!

As far as I'm aware, there are no plans to take iPlayer radio off of the iPlayer website.

What difficulties are you having using iPlayer? Maybe we can advise?
