I agree. This is one of the best and most timely programmes I have ever seen. It made such a positive and refreshing change. It shows there is great hope for the future.
Give these people more airtime!

I hadn't meant to watch this, but I'm glad I did. It was really informative and interesting. Perhaps there is hope for our farming methods after all. It all made sense, I would like to see more. And to see if she can change her farm round.

Why aren't important and informative programmes like this put on BBC1 at prime time?

Just worked out, this is a Natural World documentary. Didn't know the title of this weeks one. Going to watch it tonight. Why aren't important and informative programmes like this put on BBC1 at prime time?Quoted from

Does it matter what channel it is on, as long as they don't put these type on late at night. Prime time on TWO, is fine by me.

Absolutely agree this should be made into a series. We will have face up to the reality of a world without oil sooner or later whether we like it or not.

Excellent program.
It was however a slight shame that it was poorly publicised and hidden away on BBC2.
An 'in your face' exposure on BBC1 might have provided the wider audience that this topic sorely needs.
We all need to be reminded that we are living on an ever diminishing stock of ancient 'stored sunlight' i.e. oil & natural gas.
Perhaps the program could have described the Peak Oil problem in clearer terms i.e. the fact that whilst we still have large resources of oil in the ground, geology is limiting the FLOW RATE.
In other words from about now we will see an ever reducing flow of oil from the ground. This is OK at the moment during the global recession ... but when the world economies start up again we might be startled to find that there is insufficient oil flowing to satisfy our needs.
This could cause yet another oil price spike.
The ever reducing availability of oil will severely damage our lifestyles. A 2% or so annual decline rate soon adds up to a major cut in supplies!
So Dear Beeb, please consider raising the profile of the Peak Oil issue and of possible ways of dealing with the resulting problems, such as shown in this excellent program.

Very graphically illustrated by that tractor ploughing the field in the 80s and being followed by a flock of birds taking their pick of the worms and grubs, and then a shot of a similar scene today and not a bird in sight. What have we done, what are we doing to our land?

An utterly superb programme which should be required viewing for all schoolchildren, and government too! What a pleasant antidote to all the regurgitated lobbying material from the agrochemical and GM companies that we usually get on this subject on the BBC - keep up the good work, and full marks to the whole team involved in this bit of excellent TV.

It is repeated bruce-the-boat, as a Signed version in the small hours of Tues 3 March: www.radiotimes.com/L...It was certainly a very interesting programme. I remember seeing clouds of birds following the plough as a lad, it was when seagulls first started to come inland. I hadn't realised till the programme pointed it out that you don't see them now.

An excellent programme, the startling lack of discussion about oil depletion in the mainstream media has been appalling, I can only hope this is a turning point.
This was one of the most important documentaries to be shown for a long time, it correctly questions the business-as-usual attitude taken by the industry and government of how we can feed the population with the decline of cheap oil. The experts presenting the reality of our current situation and alternatives to today's oil-heavy agriculture in simple terms, were excellent.
Overall a beautifully shot and educational programme in a high profile prime-time slot, well done.

I was quite amazed at the agricultural potential mentioned in this program. And it puts into perspective what we need to do to come to grips with our declining oil production. BBC has performed a service for all of us. Can you run more programs on this subject, with greater levels of details?
