I work on The Culture Show, and the programme editor, Edward Morgan, has posted on our blog asking people for thoughts about what we should cover in the new series. Please feel free to post. New series starts in the middle of November. www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/...

OK, what about this: I don't watch The Culture Show as I assume it will be London-centric and very highbrow, and young and racy and a bit Emperor's-new-clothesy. A sort of tv equivalent to the Sunday Times magazine, if you like.
I fully admit that I'm out of order for judging a programme I've not watched - TCS might be completely different from what I imagine, and I could be missing out big-time. In theory, an arts show should be up my street (I work in publishing).
So am I wrong, Ellen? What kind of things does the show cover? Does it include a good spread of the regions, and a good mix of arts?
(Apologies for sounding negative, but I thought my comments might be helpful.)

In keeping with the community feel, I would like to see a story on Non Professional Theatre.

"What would you like to see us cover?"
How about remembering that there are potential viewers who are over 25 ? Maybe features on classical artists/painters - rather than modern day charlatans who hoodwink the culturally vulnerable into thinking a jar of pickled mole with painted nails is art ?

I agree, more of the great classical artists and composers, without whom our audio and visual senses would have died by now......

Just to elaborate, community arts in general. As every day people often have the same need to express themselves as those who make there living from it. (As is evidenced by all the amateur commentators on this notice board).

I'd like to see the progm visitig a different location each week, maybe hosted at the local theatre/concert hall/gallery & giving the prog a regional bent.
Mind you I'd also get rid of Kermode - he's my reason for tuning out.

The Culture Show is a good mix of regions, types of art/cultural things and definitely aimed at, and enjoyed by, people over 25. I have problems with the magazine format, and *huge* problems with Lauren Laverne as presenter (I don't watch it every week because of her), but have enjoyed many of the items in the last series. The range is very good, not London-centric, a mix of classics and contemporary, highbrow and lower brow. Some of the above posts suggest that the people making them don't actually watch the programme.

I was quite up-front that I didn't watch the programme, and apologized if I was wrong in my impression of it. It sounds as though I was, and I might give it another shot.

Evie, I do watch however like you not as much as I'd like. I think it would be a great idea to have an 'antique road show' style arts show.

I'm a regular viewer, but can't claim never to have missed a show - so apologies if you have done this already! I know there has been a recent article on experimental productions at the National Theatre, but I would like more reporting of theatre generally. How about a feature on Tom Morris? He's done some excellent stuff at Battersea Arts Centre and now he's moved to the National that seems to be going from strength to strength as well.
And DON'T get rid of Mark Kermode - his review of Sex in the City has been my favourite tv moment of the year to date!

How about amateur photographic competitions?. I am a member of a small Camera Club and I know that the standard of photography in most of the national and international competitions is amazing (I can't get much accepted into exhibitions ) I think it would be great to feature such an exhibition from the judging to the prize giving etc.
