Can't say I'm surprised to see the demise of the board, in fact I was surprised it did not suffer the axe in the last round of cuts. But, time marches on, and for myself I look back on loads of good posts, and a few donnybrooks and flounces. But overall, and most importantly, much help given to those in need and many of whom are still lovely friends.

Yes, I am a member of "that other group". More personal, less formal, and perhaps a little more conversational than it has been here, but fast-flowing too, and I enjoy it.

But I also want to mention that I have a personal website that is open to all, at

    moonrakermemories.co...

And if anyone (although my gaze is intently on one more senior gentleman in particularsmiley - ale smiley - ale) wishes to send me a message on the "Contact Me" link I will be more than happy to respond to you.

My best wishes to everyone regardless of who you are, and where you are. And I hope all are able to look back on this experience as fondly as I am.

    Dave.

    Wow...

So many messages that all say how I feel. These message boards are so helpful it's a real shame they are closing. I love reading the funny stories, feel so relieved when I read someone else is having similar issues as me and have found a solution to said issue; and feel very happy when I can offer my experiences as possible reassurance to others. Although I haven't often posted, it's been a pleasure to meet you all smiley - smiley

Sad to hear the news. I used to be SO addicted to this board and spent ages reading it every evening (once kids were tucked up). I have received some very good advice over the years for which I will always be thankful.

I've also enjoyed all the good arguments/controversies!

I was using the board less and less the quieter it got and I did think the board was starting to lose out to FB and other rivals. The board didn't seem to be getting much new traffic either and seemed to be slowly fizzling out.

It is the end of an era but it really couldn't have continued the way it was going.

    I'm honoured to be remembered!

I haven't been on here for ages but a little bird mentioned the demise of these boards.

I joined in July 2003 when I was 6 weeks pg with Luke who is now a massive 8 1/2!!!

I just want to wish everyone all the best. This was a cracking board which kept me sane in the early days. I'm still around on t'interweb so I may see some of you elsewhere ...

No point coming to the BBC any more. This is the last of the messageboards I visited with any regularity. DIY, Antiques, Science and Nature, Food and now Parenting.

Like others, I didn't post often but I visited most days and got lots of good advice.

I joined these boards while pregnant with DS1 in 2006 and was a regular poster on HAB and I have lurked through 2 further pregnancies. Like others, I have received invaluable advice from these boards and will be sad to see them go.

I have sent a request to Curlymopp through FB - I joined as Judy Twentytwo so I hope to see you all there!

End of an era. Thanks everyone for the great advice over the last 8yrs. I haven't posted here for a while, but this board has provided me with tons of good advice and laughs over the years.
Highlights being pirates, sperm snaffling, discusting 2nd hand things, electric whiskery, Lego men in unfortunate places and much cliqueyness smiley - winkeye

Thanks to you all and make the leap to fb, you know you want to smiley - smiley

I've been hanging around here since I found the boards in 2001 when DD1 was 7 and DD2 was 2. I think my my first post was in answer to Dlyicious (or however she spelt it) although she used her full name in those days.
I don't post very often but I have always enjoyed reading about everyones LO's.

I like to be anonymous and now that DD1 is 18 and off at uni and DD2 is 13 - maybe not the place for me anymore - I have always felt that my kids were much older than the norm!

    Good luck everyone.

I haven't been on here much but I hate knowing it is leaving cyberspace (I was MrsMourhino, MrsM and on the old board my real name and dd's name - L&E). I joined in March 2004 when I found out I was pregnant with DD - she is 8 next month! I still have a copy of my BA....its in her baby book.

But, if we deluged the mods with complaints, maybe they would be too busy to actually close it.
