Nice to meet you again and thanks for some useful tips for learning English, sometimes I listen to 6min. Engl. here on BBC, sometimes I watch films with or without titles. I should, but i don´t read English books, I think it´s very useful for learning and extending vocabulary, but I usually read in the late evening about 11p.m. and at that time I so tired, that I don´t perceive so much
But your English is really nice, you can explain everything very clearly and accurately, you are smart!!!
As for old traditions that is the same everywhere, the old ones are disapearing and replaced with the newer ones pushed throug media and advertisements. It´s a pitty. I like speaking with my parents about their childhood, and their first memories - even if I heard it hundred times By the way, how is your mother, does she live close to you? Is she OK? You wrote about her in one of your letters.
I keep on one tradition - in the middle of each month I go with my friends ( only girls, no men) to a café and we chat for several hours... such ladies club or better and trully gossips club it´s so refreshing afternoon! My boyfriend doesn´t like gossips but when i came home, he always asks me about news
Yes, I heard about London the same, it´s really cosmopolitan city, as I heard there are lots of people from Poland nowdays. It´s melting pot of the world as other big cities - more opportunities to find a good job, more money, some people studing, a lot to see... My older daughter is going to London for several days in the middle of March. When she was 11 we went to Paris, last year she was in Rome, now she is 13 and going to London, hope shel will enjoy the trip. Now she is going alone, I mean without me, with some friends from school and with travel agency. She can speak English on pre-intermediate level, and I hope it´ll motivate her to continue studying.
By the way, is your name really Andrzej? in Czech it´s Ondřej and it rather common and favorite name. My name is Ivana, it probably comes from Rusian language.
Have a nice weekend, and don´t work so much, slow down

Good evening and nice to hear you again .
One man said me that we should be closely English as it only possible. Each contact with English is good for us.
Your English is very nice too . But I think that we both think then "own English a little worse then opposite person" I know that my English is not enough good if I would like it to be. Moreover I see that some people on this board know English better than me, but I noticed, there are some people whose English worse than me.
I have just bought an English vocabulary in mp3 format and I hope that my English will be better .
Today I visited my mother, she lives 31km away from me in the village. She is well as her age.
You have a lot of time for such long meeting with ladies. I suggest that you all at the meetings should speak in English .
I agree with your point of view on the London but I am not sure if such life for me. We sometimes fascinating some places e.g. the London, New York, seaside but people who live there fascinating a village at the mountains. We have such saying " Everywhere is well when we are not"
Your daughter would be check her skills of English when she will be in London. I think it will be a good exams for her.
My name is Ondrej - you are right, but your name is nice too .
By the way teenager in Czechs R. like learn at school?
When they want to live? in Czech or the other countries. What they want to do in the future?

I haven´t seen you for ages, finally i´m here to say hello again
I had a busy weekend: Becasuse of weather ( misty, cold, rain with snow) on Saturday morning I sugested my boyfriend to decorate and renovate the bathroom, he wasn ´t very lucky but in the end we decided to do it. First I thought that such a small room 3x3,5m must be ready within a few hours... but in the end we finished yesterday afternoon... ufff what a hard job it was! but it looks nice ...and we bought some lamps, mirror, shelves etc. in Klodzsko ... so that was my working weekend.
You asked me about students here in CR, I think that students are the same as in Poland. My school picks out the best students from the local basic schools, so there shoul be only very clever and hard working students - but truly, not all of them are so good ones. it´s also due to lack of students last years. Maybe one third of them are very ambicious, smart, cute and hardworking ones. I admire them because of their versatile skills in sport, music, excelent school results, general knowledge, etc. One third of the students are slower, not so brilliant, but stil good students and I think a nice people. I don´t consider school marks being so important, in fact I dont like grades and judging students according grades. Life is not about marks... And the last third seems to have no interest, no targets, no ideas, no skills, they are only wasting time.... it´s a pity and I think they will have difficulties finding the job. But in general I can say that I like my job, I like being with teenagers, like their energy and enthusiasm, jokes, fresh ideas....
Some of my students are studying or working all over the world - USA, England, Korea, Brazil... I´m always pleased when postcard or email comes and I can see that they are doing well.
Thanks for your nice idea of English conversation during our ladies meetings I´ll suggest it next time - and maybe the meeting will be much shorter
Have a nice evening Andrew
See you soon,

I see your boyfriend is a very hard-working man and it is very nice that some equipments you bought in Poland.
How are you warm-up your house? What sort of warm source do you have?
This is very good that you like your job and you enjoying it. I think it is very important have an appropriate job and get satisfaction from it.
I have heard on the radio that in Spain Officials raised requirement according to taxi drivers. Nowadays they should at list middle school education. Moreover only 1/3 of young people finished secondary school. I was shocked this information.
On Sunday I was at work too but this weekend I would like to go to the ski on Jakuszyce.
Our weather without sun, rain and snow. Every day is cloudy and gloomy, temperature about -1 to +1C.
Tomorrow at the afternoon I am going to take a rest and relax a little in a finish sauna

Nice to see you again
Maybe ( and I hope so) my boyfriend more loves me than he hates decorating the room... but truly I must say he is really hard working and he tries to help when necessary, he even can cook some easy meals, helps my parents if they need it and so on... he is really nice
Andrew, did you hear about closing this board?.... I was rather sad to read this information. I found this board only two weeks ago, and I consider it much better than for ex. Facebook, Twitter ... and sincerely Í'm glad that I met YOU here!
I'd like to stay in contact with you after closing this board. Maybe this board will be replaced with another space, where we will be able to meet other people, share ideas, improve English.... maybe not. If you don't mind being in contact and you feel the same, can you suggest anything how to keep on writing each other? I think I can send you an email, it won't be so difficult... but there is enough time till the end of February.
As for warming up our house, we have a central heating - we use mostly wood and coal, and to warm up warter we combine it also with electricity. In our willage there is no distribution system for gas. And we have such a small private forest, so we buy some wood, but we aslo use our sources. Excelent forest gym for my boyfriend, my brother in law and nephew But sometimes i help them too, but only with some physically "light" work
I didn't heard this news about Spain education, but I believe it. As I read even illiteracy in Spain is about 15 percent - incredible!
The weather is same here - snow, foggy, temperatures about 0. I'm looking forward to sun. Finish sauna is great idea in these days, I haven't been there since the end of january. Maybe I'll managed to get there at the weekend, if so I'll think about you. Have you ever thought about building and constructing your own sauna at home?
Enjoy your sauna relax yesterday
See you soon, good night,

Hi Iva ,
I have not heard about closing this board. Where is this information?
Thank you for compliment . I have been here for a year. And this forum is very useful for me. Moreover I noticed there are some people with a big seniority on this board. Of course there are a lot of new comers too.
Of course I would like be in contact with you. I will think how to keep on writing, but first I need more information about closing this board. Of course communicating by e-mail will be one of the best way. Do you have an e-mail account?
I have central heating too. It is connected with furnace on a gas - fired and with fireplace. We always use the fireplace to warm up a house. Every year I buy some woods and put them into the woodshed.
Yesterday I was in the sauna and I relaxed. Yes I though about built a sauna at home. Moreover I reserved a space for the sauna in a basement. Even I have created a project for it. But I have not enough time, maybe this year I find more time and I will construct my own sauna.
This night have fallen down about 8cm snows. But it is wet and have. Later I will be clean it from the yard - front of house.

Now I' m too busy to write more, so just for your information about closing this board: The original mesage about closing was posted by Paul Scott, 2 or 3 days ago, it is the main topic on the front discussion page called: "Closure of BBC Learning Engl. message board" you will find it here. Today it was updated with some more information - I think ( hope) there are some proposals (suggestions) for the people here - how to carry on communicating.
See you in the evening, I 'll write more.
PS: And thank you for your interest in our further communication, I'm really delighted

Today it was another snowy day - in the morning I had difficulty to get to school in time, I always go with my children by car at half past 7, but the road was full of snow and cars went so slowly... normaly it takes 10 minutes to get there but today it was half an hour. There is about 20 - 30 cm of snow, you wrote you have about 8 - 10 cm yesterday - Maybe it's influenced by altitude... we are in 360 meters above sea level. What is your elevation?
This week I have started to work on my project for interactive board lessons. It's rather time consuming and it takes more time than I expected before, but the deadline is in June, so I hope I'll manage to do all.
You are lucky one - you have a fireplace! As I found out it is very effective and what's more it's very cosy and pleasing heat. We are thinking about it too, but it's more complicated in our house ( it's old house after partial reconstruction) so we didn't realize it yet.
You look like a very skillful man!!! Can you build your sauna yourself? We thought about it at the beginning of winter, but than there vere other duties, so we didn't do anything about it. And we didn't know about possible technical problems etc. , so I hope you you will successed to build it and then you could share your experience
Are you going to the hills to cross- country skiing at the weekend? I think there are great snow conditions now. Do you know place on your side such as Andrzejóvka or Sokolowsko?, that must be nice for skiing too. I wasn't there in winter, but I went there by bike - the beautiful hilly place!!!
Give my regards to your family and also to your dog you wrote about it in the first letterbtw what race is it? We have a small "salami - sausage" dog, female, nearly 2 years old dachshund - darling of the family
See you here Good night

The last night was snowy too. The journey to the town takes me time as usual because I mentioned there are a smaller numbers of car when the snow on the roads . I am sure that snow's thickness depends from altitude. We are about 160 meters above sea level. Moreover these area characterized more amount of precipitates.
Of course you can manage your project. The nearest deadline is the best motivation .
You are right the fireplace at home is amazing . Additionally I can do something. And of course I will build my own sauna by my hand. I studied about sauna. Maybe it would not be such at a shop, but will be cheaper and I put on it a spirit. I am going on one day to the hills to cross-country skiing. Probably there will be snowing, I like such weather during skiing and apart of skiing I will be marvel at nature
I heard about Andrzejówka near Walbrzych but I have not been there.
It is not my dog, it is son's dog . It breed is fox-terrier. It is two or three years old I do not remember.
I found out the topic about closure this board. You have forgotten answer me if you have an e-mail account.
See you lady from snowed hills
Posted by iva (U15605049) on Friday, 22nd February 2013
Another snowy day.....
You are right the nearer deadline the stronger motivation - I didn't forget to send you my email contact, but the deadline seemed to be so far ... but in fact closing is next week - so it's high time! So I will try: The first part is
"anglictina29" then you make @ and the second part is the server you can find it on "seznam.cz" Pls try and if it won't work, I'll send another riddle
Place around Andrzejowka is very nice, there are hills above 1000m and lots of forests and some sand-stone rocks. Near my place there are rock labyrinths named Adrspach and Teplice rocks, have you heard about it? In summer there are lots of turists ( even German and Polish) but in spring and autumn it's more peaceful, it nice place too.
By the way, how old is your son? What does he like doing? Do you ride bike or go cross-country skiing together, or does he have comletely different interests? Does he take care about dog and does he train her? I mean such a "dogs school" some people here go there and train with a dog. We dont do it - it's time consuming and truly our dog is generaly more obedient than children
Looking forward to meeting you soon via email

When I was near Kłodzko and Strzeliniec the border was closed and I do not know the other parts of this hills.
My son is 16 years old. In his age it is differ to say what he likes. He prefer television and computer with the Internet . Almost always he goes with me on the cross-country skiing and ride bike around Jakuszyce. Here in my zone he often goes with me to ride a bike.
I want to show him the others way for spending free time. Of course if he will be adult he chose when he want rest or spend holiday time at the countryside or in five stars hotel in Egypt.
Unfortunately he don not train his dog - I can say: I have got a dog. Probably it was bad decision to bay a dog. We have tried to train dog in dog's school but the son was not enough patient.
I have just sent a message into your account.

I hope you didn't lost in a snow storm It has been snowing all the day today. We just came home from a walk and the dog looks like a snowball Did you and your son go cross country skiing?
In the morning I went to Su-Jok therapy (the road was full of snow), that was an interesting experience. I try to combine yoga, reflexive massage and now Su-jok. I practice yoga more on physical level to to strech body, be more flexible, and release some spinal or shoulder blocks if happen, I like it and i must say that it really helps. To practice yoga on mind and mental level takes more time, it goes slowly, step by step, you need to be patient. I try..
Also I do masages to my children, boyfriend, sister, friends... It started few years ago when my older daugter feels pain after climbing, riding snowboard, sports etc. so I tried without any knowledge - and it worked, surprisingly. Now all of my family wants massages, but I 'm usually short of time. So I try to teach them some techniques of spinal exercise and joga techniques, it can relieve pain and lots of blocks, but they are lazy As for Sujok of reflexive therapy, it is old and natural technique, if people are in stress or nervous - they often cross their legs or arms, press and cross their fingers, push or mash their hands, touch their nose between eyes when have a headache etc. people don't think of that, but in fact it is similar to reflexive therapy. .. so that was another borring paragraph about my hobby
You wrote about a dog: I think that fox-terrier is rather dynamic and full of energy, and as I heard also stubborn and selfconfident, so sometimes it's hard work and it requires lot of patient. You wrote that in fact it's your dog. It usually hapens, all children want an animal and then often parents take care. As for me, I didn't want a dog, because I'm busy, but now I love her. And of course that my girls want another animal like parrot, hamster, cat etc... but one dog is enough. Who takes care about your dog when you are on holiday? Do you take her with?
See you soon

Here since afternoon have been snowing too. We did not go for skiing. I planned go today. But I have not decided yet because of snowing. Usually I go to the Jakuszyce about 3 hours. But now I a little afraid about roads, if they will be cleared from snow.
I want to massages too and you are very talented person - I see.
Your story about your hobby is very interesting. How are you finding so much spare time for your passions?
You are right the fox-terrier has got difficult character but now she is sleeping under my char . We always takes it with us when we go on holiday but for me it is a big duty.
I like dogs but when we all out of the house it is alone at home. And after work when I first finish it I usually at once go to home because of dog. I always try to enter home without noise to see what is it doing. Sometimes she does not hear or see me and I see her face. I see her "strange" face and it is note nice view.
Are there in Czech R. a lot of Skoda on the street. Which brands of car are you all prefer?
Czechs people prefer national brands (because they are own) or the other (e.g. they are from better western Europe)
See you soon my penfriend

Today I decided to write here on BBC board before it's completely finished.
As for cars - I don't understand it so much, I thing cars are similar as in Poland, there are all brands, but Skoda brand is rather popular here, my sister drives one, she bought it new and drives it for about 10 years and she is happy with it. I have never had Skoda, from my 18s I drove old VW Passat, Opel Astra, new VW Passat, Volvo 850 and now I have for about 5 years Ford Focus - and I use it every day, and I'm satisfied. I think that 20 years ago there were big differences between brands - as for quality e.g. Volvo was completely different from Opel, but now it seems to be less different. But it is only my opinion, I don't understand cars at all.... if it goes it's a good car for me
With my last car Ford I had such a strange and unpleasant experience in Poland.
One month after I bought it, I went to PL to Szceliniec and Radkow, I left my car on empty, car park and went for a trip. When I came back in the evening I was shocked, the car was completely crashed and from both sides it was incredible and even now I don't know how did it happen...? On the parking place there were only two cars and some woman managed to destroyed both of them by one strike - she hit my car and it was thrown on next car, so my was damaged from both sides - incredible! I had to go several times to Warta insurance company, but with any success... after 7 or 8 months when I was hopeless, one bussinesman from Poland helped me to force Warta to pay for the damage...
It wasn't happy end, but i was happy
And one more event with my car but I feel a bit embrassed to inform about that
One sunny day my boyfriend gave my and children's bikes on the roof of my car and I drove home and he went home by bike, so me and children came home erlier, I put out our bags from the car and then I drove to the garage .... what a surprise! I forgot bikes on the roof... ... I destoyed both bikes and the roof
I looks that we will have a baked dog for the dinner today - oru dog is lying next to the radiator, it's hot that I can't touch it with my hand and she is sleeping on it with nearly burnt fur
Best regards and see you soon,
