    Hi,

We have a new internnet circuit, and are using a block of IP addresses that was registerered in ARIN to our US parent company, we have now SWIPed this across to show our own UK postall address.

We have also requested that 3rd parties such as maxmind and quova update their own databases directly.

We are still having problems accessing the bbc iplayer, is there a specific method for getting the BBC to update their GEO IP content?

Any help or direction would be most apprecaited.

    Thanks

    Lee

I trust that you have read this FAQ iplayerhelp.external...

    Especially the sentence

"If your ISP has registered with the appropriate databases, our servers are updated on a regular basis so you will have to wait until the next refresh to gain access."

Remember that it is you that changed stuff so be patient.

hi, thanks for the reply, yes i had seen that before posting, its a little vague doesnt let you know what kind of geo ip database they use, who they cache from etc.

Also does not state how often they update their database etc, so as said its a little bit vague.

    Any other info available?

    Thanks

Being just a user I do not have the answers, although I don't blame the BBC for being vague it is safer than being a hostage to fortune.

However a thought - have you checked that your supplier has done their part?

You might like to run your IP address through a couple of the online geo-location systems.

This guy is in the Philippines en.wikipedia.org/wik... according to the results from WHOIS · rDNS · Traceroute · Geolocate at the bottom of the page. I suspect that if you replace his IP address with yours you see where you are virtually located.

Apologies in advance if the above is blindingly obvious to you.
