I realise that this MessageBoard clearly seems to hark back to the 1970s with its out of date title (clearly it should be the BBC IPlayer Forum) and its patronising boarding school headmaster approach of shutting the forum down to any new posts overnight.

However even allowing for all of these things can somebody please explain to me why this seems to be the only discussion forum on the internet where you cannot subscribe to a thread you are interested in and/or have posted in so that you are advised by email as and when any new posts are made in a thread.

If the BBC had used a normal decent piece of IPlayer software then clearly this functionality would have been provided with it automatically but instead the BBC chose to cobble together this third rate Heath Robinson offering and forgot to include what is normally one of the most important features of any online message board (advising participants of new posts on the same subject matter even if they do not materialise for some days or weeks after the previous posts were made).

Bit irrelevant as this board is going to be closed down soon. We don't have a date yet, but it will be soon....

Why is it being closed down when the IPlayer service is more unreliable than ever and the mindless drones at the BBC's Capita run call centre in Belfast are incapable of answering any questions about missing of defective IPlayer downloads.

In fact it was their staff who specifically directed me to raise my issues on this Messageboard given that they were unable to answer my questions.

The BBC don't tend to monitor these boards much anymore anyway.

The close down is to do with the cuts to the BBC budget.

Hopefully iPlayer support will continue here www.catchupsupport.c...

Why don't they axe the making of mindless Reality Tv series like Dreamschool instead of axing services that are actually useful to viewers and listeners.

Or perhaps they could axe the pay of some of their senior executives and presenters who are paid far more than the Prime Minister.
