I'm trying to download the BBC3 programme on cocaine (for future playings offline rather than just watching while downloading) but it's not made clear whether I just haven't found how to do it or it isn't possible. It should prominently be made clear on all iPlayer pages for a programme either what to click to download it or that it is not downloadable. (I still don't know the situation for that programme.) If for example it is necessary to be logged in to download a permanent version, it should be stated explicitly.
Also, while trying to do something that required me to be logged in, I was first of all told that my attempts to log in were unsuccessful but unlike the sensible practice of most websites I wasn't always offered an option of registering (until I'd done a bit of experimenting and exploring).
As it happens, I seem to have registered in the past since I was told the email I'd offered this time was already taken, but I couldn't remember my old username. Perhaps a way of telling the user what their old username was, might be offered.
You cannot download a permanent version of any programme to keep. You can download and keep a programme unwatched for up to 30 days and once you click play for the first time this will drop to 7 days.
To download a programme you need to click the words "Download Options" from the page that you are watching your chosen programme on.
To find your old login details, click "Forgotten your password" on the login page. This will then allow you to find your past username and password.
