The animation on radioplayer uses about 20% of a cpu on my macbook. This makes the pc hot and spews out extra CO2 (about 10g per hour). Is there an easy way to stop the animation and leave the window open so that I can see what programme's playing?

Desktops are affected by this too. The iPlayer animation is frivolous and unnecessary. Tim, I hope you've also used the contact forms to let the BBC know you feel this way.

Nope. BBC is a black hole as far as I'm concerned, there's no tracking mechanism so I've given up.

In Firefox I'm able to block the animation using AdblockPlus, as it's a separate Flash program from the media player. Other blocking addons might allow this too, but I tried Flashblock and it didn't seem to offer such fine-grained control.
